The will also be by definition be some instant shocks that will be impossible to control. Eg. the currency will almost certainly completely tank, again that will drive prices up very quickly.

Boris could turn that into a good PR opportunity, there would be plenty of footage of him helping out at food banks.

Tony today:
"On 12 June, the Commons rejected a motion tabled by Jeremy Corbyn, which would have allowed MPs to take control of the parliamentary timetable in the autumn to stop no deal going through. Mr Hancock told BBC Radio 4's Today programme it was that vote which prompted him to change his mind. "I thought that would go through and in fact, the government won by 11," he said. "I now don't think it can (stop no-deal). I thought that it could and the votes went differently to what I anticipated. When the facts change, sometimes even as a politician you have to change your mind." "Mr Hancock's comments echo a warning reportedly made by the prime minister's senior adviser, Dominic Cummings, that MPs have left it too late to stop no deal.Mr Hancock's comments echo a warning reportedly made by the prime minister's senior adviser, Dominic Cummings, that MPs have left it too late to stop no deal. 'Untested' But Dominic 'numpty' Grieve, one of the most prominent pro-European Conservative MPs, told the BBC Mr Cummings was a "master of misinformation", and there were a number of options still left for MPs wanting to block no deal. They include bringing down the government, via a vote of no confidence, and setting up a new government in its place, he said. If Mr Johnson loses a vote of no confidence and it becomes clear that another potential prime minister could command the confidence of the Commons, the convention is that he would be obliged to resign. However, Catherine Haddon, from the Institute for Government think tank, said this was "untested territory", adding: "He could say: 'No, I'm staying as prime minister and we're having a general election.'" The date of an election is set by royal proclamation on the advice of the prime minister, so he could choose a date after 31 October and press on with Brexit in the meantime. tick tock |

Are you sure BJ will be able to call a General Election? The Commons has the ability to form a Government if Conservatives cannot. The Queen can appoint a new Prime Minister. Let's see how that works. Can BJ call a General Election? What does the Fixed Parliament Act say? |
|
By:
let me let you all into a little secret,"BORIS is bluffing"they will never walk away and say no deal"And every single one of the MP'S know this,
but the will all play their part in the pantomime that is about to unfold in early September. And the world and its mother and the dogs in the streets of London know this, but the people who voted leave really think that the government will leave no stone unturned to implement Brexit . but as i say the pantomime is a fairy tale or nursery story usually produced in September and ends just after Christmas time. |

the main plot of the pantomime for boris is win an election and get rid of the brexit problem.
a second referendum will vote to stay when Boris shifts the goal posts, and get rid of brexit,or he can kick the brexit can down the road for seven years by sending it to the european courts.but he has to remain popular with all the general public,so for the minute he is flexing his muscles and showing how tough a PM he is. when he goes behind closed doors with europe he will tell them he needs something that will sound better than Theresa's deal ,but he will not be leaving the EU,BUT IT WILL SOUND LIKE HE IS LEAVING,his legal team will have it worked out why a second referendum is paramount to copper fasten the so called new deal, then its a final hurdle he has to skip over to win first prize(the strong PM with the new deal, that has sorted everything out with europe and will remain trading friends until the second referendum votes overwhelmingly to remain ,uniting the country ,uniting the tory party and a strong no nonsense( WINSTON CHURCHILL LIKE) PM at the helm who will last for years. |

bab, leaving the EU ,is like stop shopping at the super value supermarket next door to you (that has everything) and walking 6 mile down the road to a corner shop that sells stale food .nobody in their correct mind would do it,now if a guy decided to make his own food thats different, but he will have to share it with the hunderd people on the street who arrived and live in tents outside ,because they were told that this is the street to go to for food.in fact the supermarket will direct these people to you.and as for the corner shop owner,he will arrive at your doorstep also with his family of 17 ,just because he was told that this is the street to be in.but the supermarket will have high walls to stop the visitors entering their shop.

by the way,Boris is very clever, never underestimate the Boris,Boris will work for Boris, and at the end of the day Boris will come out clean and popular,Boris knows that Michael carries a set of knives, and that Jacob is sitting like a scavenging vulture waiting for one slip,Boris is on the ball, and may very well rocket a scud missile type shot into the roof of the European net.as i said never underestimate the boris.

It would appear Cummins thinks Prime Minister BJ can call a General Election if he loses a vote of No Confidence. That Election date could be set after Halloween. Brexit is the default legal position.
I contend but am not a Lawyer that the Fixed Parliament Act allows 14 days for someone else to form a Government. Again I am not saying the numbers are there but in theory there is a possibility enough MP's will try and halt Brexit by forming a Government and seeking either a delay to Brexit ( dependent on the EU agreeing it ). If this happened they could then go to the country. The doomsday scenario is that an alternative Government could revoke Article 50. This would be terrible in that it rendered a democratic vote by the country meaningless. It might lead to civil unrest but the economic catastrophe to follow might be even worse than a No Deal Brexit! Maybe Cummings is banking on the percentages that an alternative Government cannot be formed. That is a big GAMBLE! |

^ You seem very well up on the technical side WD.
Recap of the last week since Boris arrived,(very non technical i'm afraid) UK;we are not talking to the EU til they drop the backstop. EU;we are not dropping the backstop, guess there is nothing to talk about. UK;The EU is refusing to talk, .That is up to the minute reporting. |

I didn't read that but thanks.
https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2019/aug/06/mps-thwart-boris-johnson-no-deal That puts more options on the table but is a little foggy. the point I am making is that it is most unlikely we shall have a General Election before October 31st. The onus is on Remain to make its move and form a Government. This is still a pretty long shot as disaffected Labour MP's may vote for BJ's Government in a vote of confidence. As I keep saying the elephant in the room is being avoided. We also have the potential of a Labour Civil Was if they put up Kier Starmer or Yvette Cooper up as head of a Government of National Unity! Would Labour MP's vote if it was Ken Clarke or David Davies? Seems really clear to me what needs to happen. A lot of people will have to chomp down hard on the bit to ashley vote it through. I have a gut feeling though that Brexit may be delayed. Just not sure how they can pull it off with all the various factions involved. |

So Brexit will be Put off by a GE
Do you actually think that any brexiteer will even pay Attention to the Result of a GE ?? Never Mind no Deal , NO BREXIT will be the Disaster this country does not need .... |

By:
I'd love to know how "no deal" which will surely be far worse for the Irish Border than an agreed deal even if it's not perfect... makes sense in protecting ... the "Irish Border"... in EU eyes? It's like the exact polar opposite of a backstop.
