Great to see a stadium 1/6th full in a knock out match of a world cup as well
I think they deserve all the money they get, all £2.20 of it |

The attempted 'race card' was a dirty but predictable play from the Cameroonians and the BBC pundits (not Mr Neville) were trying to shift the blame onto the referee (Eastern Asian viable target) away from the Cameroonians who didn't even know the rules and were a dirty team.

I think they knew the rules but just decided they weren't for them. Entitled beaches.

I didn't see the match, no tv, but I have just watched the interview and thought he came across very well. I thought he was brave in this day and age to say what he did. As he pointed out he could have trotted out all the old platitudes but he didn't.

For the umpteenth time, message to me - get a tv!

I agree about Neville Annie told the truth.

The Ref was utterly terrible. If she had dealt with it properly the first time then it's unllikely they would have kept chancing their arm like they did. She was meant to be the one in charge after all. |

When you've got 13-0 scorelines you know its awful
32 teams and there's probably 1 none league standard team amongst them |

don't see how that makes him pitiful but ok
he maybe could have risen above it, praised his players instead of focusing on the opposition he's right though. spitting, elbowing, bad fouling, protesting. cameroon behaved deplorably do i think he's a wimp mentally though? yes does my opinion matter? no will england win the world cup? probably not does anyone really care? nooooo |

So Annie is Macca Macca or Billy?

I am sorry, terry, I watched the beginning of that clip but it was going to go on for a long time and I thought I would watch it some other time but of course I have lost it now.

Well I guess there is more to it than meets the eye |

Shrewd dude the referee had little chance of controlling that situation especially with Robert Mugabe on the touchline stoking the fire,if she'd started throwing cards around the game mightn't have got finished imo.

You can only control a match where the teams consent to be controlled and abide by the rules, including the ludicrous VAR decisions).
When one team opts out, then you don't have a game of football, as Phil Neville correctly pointed out. |
|
By:
just an aside to phil and bbc, 6/7 million people with bbc channel on doesn't equate to 6/7 million people tunning in to watch womens football
|
|
By:
At least they didn't play the racist card
![]() |
|
By:
They should have played the misogynist card along with the racist card.
They missed a trick there. The BBC would've been calling for a rematch |
|
By:
Should have filled the water bottles with Prosecco then had a proper tear up.
|
|
By:
cant remember Neville calling keano out for his halland tackle or the battles with the invinvcibles, or cantona jumping into ground, but maybe the womens game in a 3rd world backwater are easier targets,
if var was round in the Fergie/wenger era yesterday would turn out to be tea party in comparisson |

Neville is a s*** house that's why, 1tp
That's why he's managing women |

Come on, the referee shouldn’t be awarding deserved red cards and penalties because a team might walk off in a huff? Get a grip. The referee was utterly abysmal and was criminally out of her depth in allowing the game to get to that stage. |
|
By:
If the ref had done that SD it would've reaffirmed what they all thought i.e nobody wants us to win,the officials are all against us,FIFA are racist etc. once you go down those roads impossible to predict what might've happened.
As it stands the game got finished and the correct decisions were made via the VAR. |
|
By:
Neville had every right to say what he did! he is supposed to protect his players. The assault on Houghton being a case in point. In Rugby you can cite a player for that type of violence and assault. That is common assault in a court of law!
I remember Emile Heskey being racially abused in Belgrade in an U21 match. Nobody did anything! If he was on my team I would have done any of them off the ball. You don't do that to an Englishman! |
|
By:
and you don't stand by as a team mate gets assaulted and do nothing!
verbally or physically! |
|
By:
No the right decisions weren’t made via VAR. The ref bottled a clear penalty and red card because she didn’t want to upset the Cameroon players. I can’t belive people genuinely condone a referee letting a game get that much out of control because they didn’t want to upset the players more.
|
|
By:
All's the ref did was give them a bit of time to calm down when it first kicked off and the red card was virtually the last kick of the game.
|
|
By:

By:
What? She let them run riot and behave atrociously as per the reason you started this thread. It doesn’t matter if it’s the last kick of the ball it was the wrong decision not the right one.

Started should mean initial post on this thread.
I don’t think I’ve ever watched any game where a red looked so completely out their depth. |
