Shapiro flaked because he cant handle being challenged and usually just strawmans his way through debate at 100mph
|
|
By:
Wasn't really strawmen, what he was trying to do was evade questions by throwing questions back at neil but neil won't fall for that. The questions themself may have had some merit, he is certainly correct that Neil did use loaded language that indicated a prejudice in the question but Neil is the one doing the interview not Shapiro.
He came across like a right wing slightly smarter version of Owen Jones, certainly he walked away from that looking pretty bad. He appears to have apologised to Neil on twitter, which shows a bit more grace than Studio Flouncer Jones could muster. |
|
By:
I wouldn't stand in his way.
|
|
By:
Another thing was Shapiro sailed very dangerously close to (and probably onto) "Do you know who I am?" territory at least twice, all in all he came across as a bit of egotistical d1ck.
|
|
By:
We always knew Neil was a leftie!
Shapiro what a tool |
|
By:
Was worth a watch but ultimately, a waste of time, so can sort of see Shapiros point.
Looking up bad tweets that Shapiro himself admits to is pointless discourse Neil himself refusing to answer Owen Jones questions on this week was pointless discourse. Isn’t the point of good journalism to find out what people think? |
|
By:
The point of an interview is to ideally expose some truth about what the person being interviewed believes knows or has done.
It's not to run down the clock with their own agenda against the journalist or just to evade the question they don't like. Try acting like a teenager in a job interview, see how many jobs you get. Owen Jones is a total d1ck, a childish dim petulant little commie, and how he gets any airtime at all is beyond me. The fact Shapiro can be so closely compared to him doesn't do Shapiro any favours. |
|
By:
He should do himself a favour and immerse himself in the philosophy of Jordon Peeterson.
|
|
By:
He could have handled it better.
I think there’s a difference between respectfully ending a pointless conversation and having a storm off but it would be naive to think it wouldn’t be perceived as the latter when he’s playing by their rules ie a hostile interview rather than an interesting discussion. I wouldn’t defend everything about Shapiro and I don’t always agree with him but his, maybe naive, expectation of that interview would have been far more interesting than the approach that Andrew Neil took. |

Whole thing is here:

|
By:
Shapiro's research non-existent as he accused Neil of being on the left.
|
|
By:
abortion-obama-and-middle-east
He's an expert in all 3? |
|
By:
Shapiro tried to make it seem like Neil should be grateful for his presence as he is world famous and nobody had every heard of neil, which is what he said, if Shapiro would have done his research he would have been better prepared for the interview as Neil takes no prisoners with the left or right, even though he is centre right. Pretty immature and weak of him to bow out of an interview because he didn't like the questions.

Anyone who EVER says ANYTHING you don't already know to be a fact (everything you believe), is a raging leftie, JC.
Any balance seen on TV or opposition to what are definitely the ONLY correct views (yours), are taught it in uni/BBC/press. You are wrong on so many levels, but you're even more obsessed than you are wrong. Here is a reminder of what was so roundly ignored some time back (well over a year)... The chip on your shoulder is so big, Just Checking, you must have to lean to one side. Nearly every post on any thread has an anti-Corbyn, The BBC/C4/radio/papers are left-wing collaborators, etc etc If ANYTHING is wrong in the country or the world, it's the fault of the lefties, or the Guardian, or Corbyn. They can NEVER be right about anything, can they? The Corbyn sentence above leaves NO room for Father Maguire to respond to or reason with you. That he did manage a polite answer is creditworthy. Boris has been ridiculed, but no-one from Labour (especially Corbyn) has. Right? Some (Freely available & factual) information and education, as I'm off today: The BBC political team is largely made up from former Conservative party activists and supporters. As listed many times, yet ignored as it doesn't suit the mantra. Just look up, Andrew Neil, Nick Robertson, Kuenssberg, Paxman (though he moved from Lab to Con) and just about all its radio political reporters Newspapers with biggest circulation (IN ORDER OF CIRCULATION NUMBERS) and their ownership and political leanings: The Sun - 1.7 million - Conservative - supported Brexit, Slated Corbyn, influential Daily Mail - 1.5 million - Conservative except when Ukip, (In the 30's Supported Mosely, Pro Mussolini & Hitler Appealed to blackshirts then, still does.), Supported Brexit, Slated Corbyn, Wikipedia no longer links to Mail because of so much made up stuff, still influential. Metro - 1.5 million - Owned by the same group as the Daily Mail, not very influential. Evening Standard - 880,000 - Conservative - Edited by George Osborne, Very Conservative, especially in London Mayoral elections - look it up! A bit influentisl Daily Mirror - 725,000 - Labour - was biggest selling paper until Robert Maxwell's nonsense, now mostly toothless. Slated Boris. Telegraph - 475,000 - The Torygraph - Only a complete idiot could suggest this was a leftie rag. Times - 450,000 - Generally Conservative, had some moments of 'New Labour' but not for long. Owned by Murdoch, MANY links to Conservative party Star - 440,000 - not very political, but anti-labour. Express - 400,000 - Like the Star, owned by Richard Desmond, who donated £1.3 million to Ukip - slightly influential. i - 260,000 - Deliberately non political, doesn't take any stance, wouldn't say Yes OR No about Brexit. - nothing to influence anyone with. Financial Times - 195,000 - Currently Conservative, I'd suggest it's mostly read by Conservative voters anyway. Guardian (SO powerful but with a circulation of less than 160,000) - Labour. Though was never Pro-CorbynNot that ANY of these facts will filter through, because it would ruin your reason for existing on here. But, as you can see, virtually all your assertions are fundamentally wrong. All the same still except that the Express was bought by the Mirror group. The fact definitely remains that the BBC is basically a Conservative organ and always has been. It's just dreadfully PC and loves the Left-wing tag because it enables hiding behind it. There has been plenty of proof of this. For at least 60 years. Mostly what hasn't changed is the sheer number of Just Checking posts and threads saying the same old toot. |

Didn’t actually think it was Neill’s best work.
It wasn’t really clear to an average viewer (me) what Neill was trying to achieve. |

Just. Checking "........Owen Jones is a total d1ck, a childish dim petulant little commie,......" Has to be one of the most ridiculous right wing ' outbursts' on here. |

Nice to see so many well balanced, nuanced views on here.

Watched that interview. surprised at how little Ben Shapiro knew about Andrew Neil.
Was Owen Jones mark2. Plea to betfair. Save us from SFs war and peace posts and bring in character limits similar to twitter. |

By:
Just watched, i dont see anything. A host who was questioning every old tweet out of context.
It looks like AN was willing to tow the bbc line at an American. I thought Ben answered all of his questions and did ok. |

By:
No point in my answering again - which I did.
Tosssers are having my posts removed. Equal tosssers are actually removing them. |

No that the akabula stalkyness wasn't noticed.
It might please some people you want to cling on to their every word, akabula, I'm seriously not that needy mate. So any time you want to stop, it's OK with me. |

Shapiro has a couple of things I agree with him on, but good to see that it isn't just people on bf that shout lefty at people with differing opinions ![]() |

I thought that fair comment given the length of some of your posts.
Twitter restrict the characters for a reason. Hardly stalking is it. |

The fact that people go out of their way to have SF's posts deleted - that in itself tells you he won the debate/point in hand.
