"MP"s were issued an instruction by the British people.Given the Byzantine complexity of the Brexit process,it would be foolish to pretend it was a simple one. but it was clear. They were to withdraw the UK from the European Union."
"They refused.Granted 1,000 days to reach consensus on an exit strategy, they had neither the competence nor the courage nor the foresight nor the sense of national duty to construct one"
"Brexit is dead" the Minister told me."Some rebels might start to come round, but its too late. On monday the House of Commons will take control of the process and then its over"
"Brexit was supposed to be a moment of national catharis, instead,it is about to go down as the greatest fraud ever prepetrated upon the British people.Everything they were promised before, during and after was a lie,one vote and that vote would be honoured"

It's all so sad for the tory voters. It must make tory voters want to turn their backs on the party but where would they go ? Can you really see anybody turning out at the next election? Just when people WERE starting to get involved, this happens. So glad I'm old, trouble is, I'm not so old that I'm not affected by this stuff. It's all so very disappointing.

"Erm" the the Tories never thought Brexit would be an Option otherwise they would not have had the referendum , The vote to leave was fueled by Working class people not Tories , a high percentage of Labour voters disgruntled with the State this country has ended up in Listened to Farrage and other Pro Brexit types ,and thought that will do for me, All they wanted was our Government to pass the Laws we abide by ,Security for the NHS  Perhaps a bit of Housing for their Kids , They even asked
That before we open the Door to let people in we have a little look through the Peep Hole to see who they are and What they want  , A little bit like answering ones own door  ,Of course our Luvvie friends leave their Front  Doors open so as anyone can Come and go as they Like , One day after they have had their Back doors rammed they might decide to start putting the Latch on .. Thats all I wanted nothing more Nothing less ,But of course I am a Racist Bigot as one Txsser on here called 70 % of the forum , and no doubt he will be on to pick up on any spelling errors Grin

There's a massive lack of information regarding immigration to the UK, such that if you were making a decision to leave the EU based on immigration, then you aren't making an informed decision.

A huge proportion of immigration into the EU is from students for a start.  I'd assume these students are paying to study here.  That is now dropping.  That can't be good for our economy and I know universities are worried.

May is pretty much hiring the next PM Crazy

One un-elected PM to another, and the un-elected PM is doing the hiring ffs

We don't live in a democracy and even the pretence that we do has gone now

"she'll go only if she can pick who's next to be Prime Minister"

So basically its one piece of smugness to another, and we go again for the next 2 years CryCrazy

I predicted this would happen once May was voted in as next PM by the Tories. You simply cannot have a remainer in charge of delivering Britains withdrawal from the EU. Should have been Andrea Ledsom or another Brexiteer taking the reins. The whole thing stinks imho.

That she was the only/most credible candidate at the time - tells you all you needed to know.

Leadsom's CV lies part scuppered her and then she came out with that stuff about having/not having children.

No doubt her words were twisted but she would have been a disaster too.

Maybe the best leader to deliver it would have been one of the Brexiteers that knew about and told us all about the Back-stop during the Leave campaign, so that would be er, um, er.

No maybe not.

The betrayal started with Project Fear before June 2016. It continued the day after the Vote.

We are being punished for voting against the Establishment. 3 years on and the attempts to overturn our 'mistake' are in full flow.

No one would've got it through.  Theresa May held a GE when the polls had given her a landslide victory.  Had that been a landslide a deal would've prolly got through.

At the end of the day the public voted for this mess and the public voted against a strong Tory presence in the 2017 election, so the public are mostly to blame.

I believe in democracy so empathise with your overarching point but it's 100/1 that you can find me a more establishment couple than Boris + Jacob.

Will of the people - lol - they would not give you the steam off their p!ss.

Theresa May had already triggered Article50 before the 2017 GE.  Before she triggered it the Tories had a massive lead in the polls.  The public had a chance to rubber stamp that decision, but deserted the Tories in droves.  The public are to blame.

polls predicted Remain would win as well, lost by 1.3 millions votes, Trump was also 4% up on the actual vote compared to his poll rating when Hilary was predicted to win
By:

When TM triggered A50 she had a 17% lead in the polls.  By the election she had a 6% average lead in the polls, so the best estimate is she lost 11% in the 2 months after triggering Article 50.  The result was a 2.5% lead.  Had the 11% been maintained it would've been 13.5% and BREXIT bill would've passed imo.

I don't like the woman personally.  But she did everything she possibly could to get a deal done by the 29th March.... one of the reasons why I don't like her!  She pissed me off when she triggered Article 50 before the election.

The bottom line is, you have to take polls with a pinch of salt, and when it comes to betting, use them are your own peril imo.

Says more about the intelligence of people who vote for Corbyn than the POS himself!

When you only have two options and they are both very unattractive - somebody still has to win.
You could frame a 2 horse race over 7f for 9yo maidens - there would still be a winner.
Difference is - you don't have to bet on the horse race and if you don't bet it has no impact on your life.

Jezza got two E grades at A-level and only lasted a year at London Metropolitan University, which is the lowest ranked University in the UK.  Intellectually he's totally out of his depth.

That said I imagine his relationship with Seamus Milne is similar to Orville The Duck's relationship to Keith Harris.

The bloke who succeeded Thatcher had three O-levels. Jezza is an intellectual heavyweight compared to him. A pity we can't bump the threads that were singing his praises at the time!
