What's needed is a very tough home secretary not afraid to bring back tried and tested punishments that have been proven to work ;examples being the gallows and judicial corporal punishment.
Also I would like to see such punishments carried out in public (for deterrent purposes). |

Ideally on primetime TV, Ant & Dec hosting.

If Anton Dec are gonna be hit with a stick I would be all for that - Also Anton Dubec

Nothing's going to happen, it'll just get worse.
Anyone who suggests measures that might take criminals out of their comfort zones get shouted down by the bleeding-hearts brigade. Which includes most of the media. The only way now is to whip them or shoot them. So take your choice. Arming the police is the next step so shooting them looks to be favourite. |

By:
I have known a lot of policemen over the years (socially you understand), enjoyed their company but can't think of one that I would let loose with a gun. Only thing we seem to have left going for us is the lack of guns on the street.

The machine guns would be mounted on the patrol cars.

Miners strike wouldn't have dragged on like it did i suppose?
|
|
By:
Yes, the miners and their communities would have been utterly crushed within days.
|
|
By:
The miners strike wouldn't have happened in the first place in a proper left wing country.

LOL "whip them". Given the demographic that is apparently common among the perpetrators, I'm not sure beaming stories about that around the world would lead to a wave of support amongs the notoriously level headed and balanced twitter community.

Lammy would probably have words about it as well.

they were the ones that got caned regularky if anything it made then worse
Nonsense, I don't believe a word of that. |

Whip them, shoot them, but least of all try to understand them.
When you try to understand them you simply end up making excuses for bad behaviour. That is one road you must never go down. |

Known drug deakers, hardmen of the town a couple of murderers football idiots the same faces getting caned week in week out, infact i would imagine they stppped caning then after awhile as the year went on or the teachers wouldv;e got a good hiding..The proofs undeniable, same as smacking kids just turns the into bullys,i know when my parennts hit me when i was a kid like most parenrts back in the day was like some sort of recreation just about fogibven them...Very bad times..

People that say "it never did me any harm" are usually deranged in my experience.
I used to look forward to the cheer I would get when my name was read out in Monday morning assembly for getting two detentions the previous week. Double detention meant the cane but the old duffer dishing it out was too feeble/p1ssed to do any damage. Happy days. It never did me any harm. |

Caught in possession of a knife? 5 years custodial should be a mandatory sentence.

Worst thing they ever did was take corporal punishment out of schools, imo.
I work in a community college in a rough area of a large city teaching 16-18 year olds who left school with no (or very poor) qualifications. Some of them have shocking backgrounds but the vast majority just do not want to learn or make any attempt to better themselves in order to gain work. They show very little (or no) respect to tutors and advisors, and also no respect to the buildings and environment around them. Some of them have been literally dragged to the college by parents who know that they will lose benefits if their child does not remain in education until they are 18. When you meet these parents (who treat the youngsters as if they are still in primary school - pandering to their every whim) it's easy to see why these kids have turned out this way. Don't get me wrong, there are some smashing kids out there but so many will just go immediately onto benefits at 19. It's terrifying! I have been doing this kind of work for the best part of twenty years but am now at the end of my tether. I have seen a steady decline in behaviour, attitude and decent values over the last few years and I am sure that most of these problems are down to poor parenting and schools no longer being able to apply effective discipline. Rant over. ![]() |

Scotland apparently planning to make giving a child any small moderated smack, no matter the situation, a criminal offence on the parent..

All types of corporal punishment are disgusting to a normal person, but the absence of an effective deterrent leads to even more disgusting behaviour from certain individuals, and far more widespread into the bargain than the occasional swish of a cane or similar.
Make them genuinely wince and they'll think twice next time. If that doesn't work double the dose. |

I'll tell you something chaps that a mate of mine told me this morning. Her son is on Instagram which is not something I partake in and nor does she. Her 11 year old son filmed his mate smacking another kid and posted it on Instagram laughing like a hyena and also "liked" some other person posting a picture of his flick knife. He is 11, lives in a nice part of London and is doing this sort of cr@p. His Mum went completely mad and the school got wind of it and a further misdemeanor and he will be expelled. If you looked at this kid you would think butter would not melt in his mouth but he is doing bad stuff like that, peer pressure to be the bad ass guy in the playground. When I was 11 I was playing football and eating curly wurlys at break time and playing British Bulldog.

Caught in possession of a knife? 5 years custodial should be a mandatory sentence. I understand the sentiment there, but if you make 5 years for mere possession, then you need a further deterrent for actually using the knife on someone, and perhaps even more for killing someone with a knife. I think 2 years for possesion, 4 years for thretening someone, 8 years for wounding with intent and up to life for killing someone. |

It's a lot of fun dreaming up punishments, isn't it?
|
|
By:
Corporal punishment would probably work well on the best behaved 90% of the population. But it's the baddest 10% that commit 90% of the trouble, and in some cases corporal punishment wouldn't be enough. If you're getting the same faces week in week out for corporal punishment, then it isn't working on those individuals.
What I'm saying is blanket punishments arn't always the answer. |
|
By:
If you're getting the same faces week in week out for corporal punishment, I'd suggest getting a bigger stick.

What are you using a six inch rule or a slipper?

It's when you're getting the same faces for capital that your methods have definitely gone wrong.

National Service of some description seems to make sense and gives a way out for some kids who feel trapped in their surroundings
they can get some form of work experience, discipline and wouldn't have to go back to an environment where they are part of a gang culture or are being threatened |

By:
Our history teacher used to slipper people, would seperate all the desks get the lad to bend over infront of the class and write KAPOW in chalk on it
,then take a run up full pelt,if it had been me i wouldv'e souught him out after leaving scholl and given him a good hiding.. |

Anyone who mistakenly thinks that any yoof would be allowed to lie in his army bed and refuse to get up has never been in the Forces. Even in todays comparatively liberal military that would just not happen. As I was once told, you mighta' broke your mothers heart but you won't f*** kin well break mine.
