The usual morons will be along shortly with their ‘this is nothing to do with Brexit’ nonsense.

It's not just the 3,500 Honda jobs. It's the indirect effects of the money pumped into Swindon's economy as well, and those jobs.

Not to worry, it will all be worth it when we have our blue passports.

Very sad with all the other job losses,I believe you(UK) could have had brexit and with a smidgeon of common sense safe guarded a lot of them jobs, instead your internal politics have dragged your country down fecklessly.
Shame on your politicians, just over a month to go and ye are still torn asunder, the people are being failed badly.

54% of Swindon voted leave. I imagine a good number of lads in the Honda factory also did. Quite tragic really.

Japan and the EU have just signed a trade deal a one better than the EU are offering the UK.
Honda will now just make civics in Japan lets not forget their only reason for making cars in the UK was gain free access to the EU.
They will just use Brexit as an excuse

The Japanese  ,unlike the British are not stupid , they look after themselves
Plus they’ve got a trade deal with the EU without freedom of movement
So shut up remainers

This factory makes the Honda Civic. The Civic in the Chinese market outsold the European market 5 to 1. I guess that is the market they will be investing in.

Tariff-free access to the EU was not the only reason. It also saves on shipping costs. Now Japan has just signed for tariff-free access.

But here is the reason for closure: because of Brexit, we will (probably) lose access to Europe.

Lfc is correct, Japan don't have to blindly accept criminals and terrorists in their own country to get the deal.

sorry Eboue that’s a Japanese car company , they should be employing Japanese people imo., I’m sure the Japanese employees will agree
In any event it’s for the Japanese company to decide  , not you
so pipe down

Let’s put it this way to make it simple for you Eboue , if it was you that was employed in that Japanese car plant and the Japanese factory was to close down and move back to Tokyo and you lost your job and  a Japanese person was employed in your place , in that Japanese car factory
Why should it concern me again ?

Eboue should take a little lesson from the Japanese and how they go about things , and that doesn’t include freedom of movement or allowing mass immigration to undermine their own society thankyou
They’re not that stupid

Lol at the remoaner jumping on this before any announcement has been made and calling others morons.

So lets look at this logically. They apparently won't be ramping down production until at least 2021. If they waited a month or so any uncertainty they have could go and there may be no issues at all with continuing to trade with the EU. So why rush any announcement then on such a long lead time to being enacted on such a substantial issue if it may well remain situation normal? This implies Brexit may not be the issue. They are NOT moving to create a plant WITHIN the UK. BUT, as mentioned above, Japan now has a free trade deal with the EU so now it's not relevant at all to them if they remain in the EU or not, remaining in the EU is irrelevant as they can consolidate production back at home. Which will no doubt have efficiency benefits and gives them the benefit of being closer to the huge chinese market.

But remoaners desperately want to blame Brexit, where for at least two very solid reasons above, that doesn't make sense. And they have the cheek to call others morons.

LFC, he hasn't to this point blamed the Irish,Remainers,BBC,the weather or whatever, might simply be concerned that one ineptude by your politicians is actually getting trumped a few hours after by a bigger one?
I know you think Mrs May is the bees knees but unless some rabbit comes out of the hat soon(whch i doubt),it couldn't have been played worse.(phantom ferries, trade deals bye bye,Novembers agreement, politicians ducking and diving with only themselves as an interest.)

It would be enlightening to have an article in the news analysing how many jobs are being lost in the car industry due to the regulatory changes coming from Brussels.

Not enough bait LFC.

@ Saddo, you explained what was happening in where you lived to me and it shocked me,i understand what you are saying,a worst case scenario though is things are going to get a lot worse if a bad recession occurs, i hope i'm way out. Ireland is following that path with the 2040 plan and a few years behind only.

Interesting, Honda have made absolutely no announcements on this, it has been "leaked". Who leaked it?

BBC, as you'd expect, using it for their customary Brexit bashing.
By:
Mr Eboue
When: 18 Feb 19 18:11
The BBC are there to report on important stories, such as 3500 British workers losing their jobs. They've told their viewers about it, written stories about it on their website.

How the hell is that Brexit bashing?

They are literally reporting what's happening. Just because you don't like it doesn't make it any less relevant.

The paranoid minds of the brexiteers - nothing is their fault, it's the blasted BBC's biased reporting.

You couldn't make it up.
By:

You obviously didn't just watch the extended bit of opinionated Brexit bashing by one of the BBCs brexit bashers in chief.
Sometimes it's better to just shut your mouth instead of showing ignorance.
By:

You've voted for Brexit, company announces 3,500 job losses, you blame the BBC.

And I'm the ignorant one?
By:

When: 18 Feb 19 18:21
Yes, you cannot comprehend or follow simple English. Your attempt above to say I am blaming the BBC is either an attempt at a very clumsy strawman or that, and I believe it to be the former, given your posting history.
By:
Mr Eboue
When: 18 Feb 19 18:22
And why shouldn't they bash Brexit?

Companies are leaving in their droves, our manufacturing industry will be destroyed, nations all over the world are laughing at us.

Oh and Brexiteers like Jacob Rees Mogg are moving their assets to Ireland, to enjoy the benefits of EU membership.

If you were stupid enough to vote for something that will cripple our economy and can't see what a monumental mess you've caused, then I really can't help you.

Maybe go to an evening class and learn economics, or buy a copy of trade deals for dummies. You should learn something.

I honestly have no problem with people who voted for Brexit to reduce immigration. Fair play for being honest.

What I do have a problem with are the special type of idiots who claim we will be better off economically outside the EU. It's laughable, and the people saying it should never be allowed out in public unaccompanied, for their own safety.
