So many classics to choose from, inc the aforementioned Black Beauty and Spiderman. Honoroble mentions must go to
The Six Million Dollar Man (not just the theme tune, but the greatest all round intro of all time) Flashing Blade Knight Rider Airwolf The Equalizer but my fav theme will always be the original Starsky & Hutch score from Season 1 (1975-76) Its a classic because it had a different intro and outro, and the outro is even better than the intro... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rqajVHN7hfc&t=1m10s |

Red Dwarf and Blackadder, are you some sort of Howard Goodall fanboy?
He wrote both. |

Good call on Starsky & Hutch Platini. Have always been a big fan of Schifrin's work but in this case I slightly prefer Tom Scott's jazz-influenced theme of the 2nd series.
Have you noticed how close some of the Schifrin theme (especially the outro) sounds to his theme for Magnum Force: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rkas-NHQnsI (0:38 onwards) But cracking stuff all round! I guess there are too many good themes out there to have an absolute favourite. Just have to admire the work of these clever composers. |
