Greetings and best wishes chitchatters

We have no clouds around here tonight (SE UK) - it's freezing but the stars are amazing.
I can't remember ever seeing them so clearly. It's well worth a look.

(And iIf you can, please leave some food out for the birds while you are out there)

Happy stargazing.

Magnificent night for star gazing indeed. I feed the birds in the morning but don`t leave out food overnight - rats. Just spent another 40 quid on bird feed on Amazon last week. Must look after our feathered friends.

The local blue tits are already checking out the bird house. Never seen them in there so early.
Very pleased to hear from the good folks of the forum on this. Our feathered friends have friends.

Just looked outside - clouds! or snow or fog or whatever.
Can only just see the impressive Orion now.

Never mind - no need for a telescope. Should be vacant posession of telescope in May :)

Goodnight good people, stay safe in the snow and ice.

Laugh Just noticed that Mac.  Very good Grin

Blue tits early, Para?  They're always here in Perth.

I've three feeders top of my kitchen window.  Peanuts, mixed seeds and fatball.

Orion's just about standing on the southwest horizon, Culvin.

Well done Culvin feeding our feathered friends.

2nd photo from bottom is a Linnet. Used to be hundreds of them about here but never seen one in twenty years. Same with Skylarks. Their habitat is fastly disappearing.

Fantastic pictures Morpeth.

i do voluntary work at a wildlife bog ( reclaimed farmland ) and there's a right herd of linnet there at the moment.
second one down in photographs  is a hoopoe, can be seen on scilly isles don't come much further north.
Report themightymac February 1, 2019 9:53 PM GMT
4th one down is a Hoopoe I`m sure you meant. Beautiful bird. Any photos of the Linnets Morpeth where you do the voluntary work?

Same with Coal Tits (top photo), used to be hundreds around here but never see one now since they closed all the mines Crazy

linnets are buggers, up in tree get binoculars out and get quite jumpy. noisy too, there was a sing off last week between them and a squadron of goldcrest.
