An Egyptian TV presenter has been sentenced to one year of hard labour for interviewing a gay man last year.

A court in Giza also fined Mohamed al-Ghiety 3,000 Egyptian pounds ($167; £130) for "promoting homosexuality" on his privately owned LTC TV channel.

The gay man, whose identity was hidden, had talked about life as a sex worker.

Homosexuality is not explicitly criminalised in Egypt, however, the authorities have been increasingly cracking down on the LGBT community.

They routinely arrest people suspected of engaging in consensual homosexual conduct on charges of "debauchery", immorality or blasphemy.

And some people want open borders..

Can't wait for the Mr O Jones take on the above story, and the underlying reason why this country is acting this way.

It's the sort of area thought isn't it where you KNOW if a republican sayd something that could be interpreted as homophobic inspired by christainity, the din from the likes of Jones would be heard on the moon, this sort of thing, ... "quick let's talk about something else".

Some countries still have a way to go in accepting gays

We must remember it was only made legal in this country just over 50 years ago 1967.

You can't force anyone to accept anything they find abhorrent.
That's a basic human right.

You can't force anyone to do anything they find abhorrent . They are not required to accept it . Homosexuals have human rights , that is the only fact that's relevant .

Not really Reynard.
And I agree with live and let live.
My point is against the abnormal time that is devoted to the subject and the word accept.
Gay pride for instance. If you organised a Hetero Pride march you would be charged with being homophobic.

Which is not to say that I don't also agree with 'live and let live' , although live and let live should be a reciprocal thing .
All too often those one wishes to 'let live' do not wish to afford one the same luxury Blush

There seems to be a hierarchy in 'lefty' thinking.

1. Muslims

2. People of colour

3. LGBTQETC.

4. Feminists

5. Other Leftys

6. Other women and young people.

8. Everyone else (White middle aged men)

The higher you are in the pecking order, the more you are thought of, hence you cannot criticise those people of higher rank, but those of higher rank can criticise / offend / abuse those below, as the lefty will justify /ignore /deflect from their behaviour in some way.

I understand you akabula…

I think sometimes we over do the gay victim thing over here

and I was not entirely happy with gay marriage.

I think the first task is to get the whole world to accept that some people do live gays lives.

As long as they don't bother other people with it...it is part of human sexuality.

I remember seeing the film 'Victim' years ago, when homosexuality was illegal gay men would often get

blackmailed because of it...the Victim of the title, well played by Dirk Bogarde (who I think was one himself?)

Alan Turing was treated appallingly. He was gay but when he reported a young man had stolen from his flat.

The police charged Turing with being in a homosexual relation.Shocked

He was found guilty and ordered to be given female hormones? which made him grow breasts, he then took his

own life.

Not much of a reward for a man who had helped us so much with the breaking of the enigma code in WW11.

Although I think our security services were terrified the Russian's would blackmail Turing over his

homosexuality. Perhaps he was brought down on their orders as he knew too much?

This is typical of proxy reasoning to get the result you really want. With that kind of reasoning I could say most drivers exceed the speed limit so ban all cars off the road.

If what you say is true then trafficing sex slaves and pimping should be illeagle, not prostitution.

What a SURPRISE. Odious hypocritical twerp Owen Jones, the self proclaimed voice of LGTBI issues, is steadfastly ignoring this one on his twitter feed, and we know why, as to go there would reach conclusions he is not prepared to accept.
Trump and Saudi there though. And slagging off the tories.
And a rewteet of "How many black or mixed race journalists work in the lobby at Westminster?". And some virtue signalling crap about "trans" issues.

Gawd almighty he's such a .. mockery of himself.

How about these facts Mr Jones:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LGBT_in_Islam#Opinion_polls
"A 2007 survey of British Muslims showed that 61% believe homosexuality should be illegal, with up to 71% of young British Muslims holding this belief.[185] A later Gallup poll in 2009 showed that none of the 500 British Muslims polled believed homosexuality to be "morally acceptable"."
"In a 2016 ICM poll of 1,081 British Muslims, 52% of those polled disagreed with the statement 'Homosexuality should be legal in Britain' while 18% agreed."

Egypt is merely a state has the power to enact what such people believe.

Bubububububububububut - Why is it that it's always white/tories Jones (and his SJW like) target, and can never see fault with people who hold the views expressed above as he gets on his marxist soapbox?

The comments about turkey's voting for christmas are so apt.

The reason the LGBTXYZ lot downplay this story is that they hate Christian Europe more than Islam.

Therefore 'my enemy's enemy is my friend'....

On a side note, see how the media change 'prostitution' to 'sex worker'. To validate said prostitution. Madness.

Prostitution: the unworthy or corrupt use of one's talents for personal or financial gain.

Can't use the P word in case the ****s/rent boys get offended.

That seems strange, we treat LGBTXYZ a lot better than Islam would???????

In fact we treat them too well in my opibion

Which is why Islam would not even countenance legalization which I believe in.

Most of liberalism is strange UG. And suicidal. You're right, the gays will suffer first if Islam takes a bigger hold here.

The Left were the first to suffer in Iran post 1979. They had fawned over radical Islam and paid the price when they took power.
