This chat with JRM somes up just how clueless James O'Brien is about complex issues.

He is the rudest person on the radio by a long way. No respect for the other person.

His tactic of talking over people may work with civilians but the nonsense when he talks about having Australian beef in the UK is amazing. O'Brien seems to think allowing food in from other countries that have higher standard than ours means we lose soverienty. Why when we do not have to have those rules on our own production?

ive put this on another thread but ask yourself this if mrs may is considering giving labour mp,s guaranteed legal obligations in the future relationship regards workers rights, food standards, environmental standards, etc which most of us thought was a given shows that some people ERG,BORIS REES MOGG ETC FOR EXAMPLE, think if its the difference between getting trade deals and not getting them their dear old granny in rees moggs case dear old nanny has to go, usual example is chlornated chivken from the usa and dont suppose rees mogg would disapprove of the return of chimmney sweeps,
this after all is what its all about in their eyes making us more attractive cheaper to o deals with. what the ERG call red tape usual means regualations that keep us safe

O'Brien is a ridiculous, single-issue bore and a bully (as has been suggested)

He is literally unlistenable

As I've said before he was primary reason I pretty much stopped watchng newsnight altogether unless perhaps there is a major event that day.
He's insufferable, just unwathable, so up himself and condescending and biased it's unreal.

He invites people to call his show, then proceeds to stop them from making any points by insisting they fully explain any minor details he thinks might pull them up, which throws them right off track.
Subjecting politicians to this kind of treatment is one thing, but members of the public who are usually nervous to start with isn't on. Which makes him an absolute bully

He called one person who sent a text a cretin, after he'd read it out.

Why anyone would want to phone in to his show is a mystery.
But if you like to hear members of the public humiliated and made to look silly by a gobby left-winger on an ego trip it's the show for you.

That was like a Group 1 facing a Seller.

Embarrassing to hear JoB's tone and his ignorance of so many points. How Moggy kept his calm I've no idea.

No intention of listening but would my assumption be wrong that JRM dropped a load of soundbites that rang nicely with his fanbase while JOB was rude and dropped a load more soundbites that rang nicely with his fanbase?

O'Brien is not as clever as he thinks he is. Huffing and puffing is no weaponry against a real intellect, I'm surprised he let it go on for so long.

i always feel that anyone who persistently interrupts like Jones does, is losing the argument & tries to domineer the conversation instead. It's the same principal as the shouting man has nothing to say

Absolute car crash interview. JRM absolutely rag-dolled him, in that very polite manner of his. Laugh

And at the same time, utterly exposed JO'B for the child that he is.  I mean seriously, have you ever heard a radio interviewer loudly sighing, humphing, and moaning thru every question like that ??  Utterly embarrassing .

When politicians are talking rubbish it's good to interupt but people who interupt all the time for the sake of it are very annoying.
Jo Coburn can be bad for that, though she's still 1000x more preferable than JOB.

I'd be interested if anyone pro-brexit think JOB "won" and, similarly, if anyone pro-remain think RM "won".

The rest is just tribal nonsense and barely worth bothering with.

O'Brien bullies, or at least tries to, all his callers.
His point about us checking beef imports from Australia was just plain stupid.
Whenever JRM proved him wrong he just changed the subject.
Woeful show hosted by an aggressive moron.

There was a psychological study done that showed those on the left were more inclined not to be able to understand the point of view of those with more right wing viewpoints
While those on the right were more able to understand the viewpoint of leftists

So that could explain why O’Brien may very well have fared badly against Mogg

But people like pineapple and O’Brien himself would not be able to understand or see that

I seen that poll that said right ave IQ 115, left ave IQ 90, which pretty much proves your point as well.
By:

You see pineapple thinks that those on the right and those on the left would be equally unable to take on board a different viewpoint
But this may not be true and why should it be
Psychological studies have shown it not to be true
And those on the left are more blinkered as if the haven’t moved beyond early attitudes formed in early years

While JO'B was climbing onto his high horse he was totally unaware that he'd just trashed the reputation of a whole continent, in order to score a point about some bogus food/health issue.
