but he may also accept an amendment to take no deal off the table...

Laugh mouse

Between now and the 29th May has to find a way to ensure this is passed.

She may have to remove some of her own backstops here, or think of a way to ensure enough support

to pass the Brexit deal into law..

I doubt the EU will give May any more than they have myself.

I wonder if that would include no hard border with the republic of Ireland?

Of course, we've all run away with the notion that a few cameras and ANPR software between Newry and Dundalk is as good as ensuring a return to tube station bombings the next day, but ......

call me a cynic but you wouldn't no if those hell bent on bringing troubles back to Ireland would consider any infrastructure on the border as a red rag to a bull, and they,d have a token shoot up as a tradition, what PM ,Party is going to be held responsible for even one disturbance, the threat alone is enough

it'll be the backstop/border stuff that gets it through we've kinda known this for months

They are making a show out of it before it gets through its as simple as that

Kiss goodbye to the human rights act etc in a few weeks by the looks of it, she's going to get this through and we all know who's to blame for it
Report SontaranStratagem January 17, 2019 2:54 PM GMT
Lets just say this next vote fails as well then what?

There's no bloody way she can carry on after another failed vote, she'll try but even the most ardent conservative will have to concede enough is enough by then.

there are plenty of antonyms that could occur, 1st TP. If Corbyn had more brain cells than the average goat. He (& his advisors) could get very dirty & insidious at this very moment in time. There is an opportunity for him to force a split & maybe a GE if he were to clasp it
Report Baphornet January 17, 2019 3:03 PM GMT
SS; part of me wants the government to give way on the backstop thus infuriating the DUP & losing their support. Bye bye Saint Theresa
Report SontaranStratagem January 17, 2019 3:05 PM GMT
Corbyn should be doing everything in his power to force that split

May is a joke and she deserves all she gets at this point, there's no way they can let her get this deal through

Labour cannot vote with this either, even if she relents on that they have to vote it down regardless, this evil woman cannot get this through
Report UBLE/REGY January 17, 2019 3:19 PM GMT
May won't negotiate with Corbyn...he is the enemy as far as she is concerned.

She will never get the DUP vote if she wants a border down the middle of the Irish Sea

I don't know if anyone remembers the Rev Ian Paisley, he was a member of DUP, and could never be described as

moderate.

If a wall has to be built in Ireland, so be it. May thinks it will lead to a return to the troubles in Ireland

I do not think it will.

If May cannot get support from somewhere to pass her deal. she might as well resign now.

Give someone else a go.
Report UBLE/REGY January 17, 2019 3:27 PM GMT
May will NOT call an election, as there would be a very good chance of Corbyn winning, and we would get a 2nd

referendum.

If May cannot pass a deal on the 29th, a no deal Brexit now looks favourite to me.

Although I would not advise anyone betting on my opinion, looking at my betting a/c's latelySad

mp,s keep telling us they can pass bills ,motions etc which instruct the government to take no deal of the table well why the foook don't they get on with it and they can, why doesn't mrs may save them the time and bother and do it for them ,if that's going to be the eventual outcome and at least that's one less thing people can waffle on about day after day, as for the rest mrs may has a list
survival of this government
survival of the tory party
survival of mrs may
delivering Brexit,
any solutions have to fit into that timetable which means the dup hold the balance of power, if we take the EU at their word regards the backstop, seems to me the only way forward is to get the dup to live with a permanent customs union which solves the backstop
Report n88uk January 17, 2019 5:21 PM GMT

not long now lovely people; 10 days of inexorable waffle has passes & no one (well not in my world) has changed their minds. The Gov has done everything & dragged everyone out from under their cloisters to push the 'baby' up that Brussels protuberance, but will it work?
