i shall start off with the first reported sighting; & generally considered to be the 1st time UFO was used in reference to it's now meaning
Kenneth Arnold was a pilot & on 24th June 1947 he claimed he saw 9 bright lights flying in formation past Mount Rainier in Washington (Spielberg anyone?) He was flying that day in search of a reward for the discovery of a Marine transport plane, that had crashed near Mount Rainier. No visible abnormalities or general bad weather reported. His report reads: "I estimated they were at an altitude between 9,500 and 10,000 feet and clocked them from Mt. Rainier to Mt. Adams, arriving at the amazing speed of about 1200 miles an hour. "It seemed impossible," he said, "but there it is -- I must believe my eyes." 1947 was a very strange year |

Seriously though Bap, sure. Why not? There've been plenty of reports and some seem highly likely, imo. |

trilby; i'm open to all theories. I guess you could say i'm 50/50 myself, but would like to hear of any forumites 'experiences' if any. Or just as i say, thoughts. Thanks for yours btw

Another question is, "What would you do if one landed just by you?"
Oft I've been outside having a smoke staring up into the huge sky and asked myself that very question. I honestly reckon I'd go over and say "Hi!" … unless they looked a bit dodgy, of course. |

"We come in peace" Mars Attacks
![]() Ever heard of the Aurora aircraft? It's basically been defunked now; but that means zilch to me. They lied for years about The Blackbird & B-2 Spirit plus other similar aircraft (for obvious safety reasons) Maybe they are lying about Aurora; it would only follow the same principle. Plus that was some 30 years ago; so i would hazard a guess at some improvement in technology may have been made? The fact that we - The British still can't find an Airfix kit drone near one of the busiest airports in the world, aside of course |

A few years ago on a beautifully clear night, I was looking up at the sky when I saw a 'star' moving across. At first I thought it was a plane or a satellite, but the way it moved was weird.
It was moving in a straight line but had a stochastic pattern to it's speed, and I thought, 'what could possibly move that way?' Sometimes it would virtually stop for a split second and then ping forward. Even weirder, from mild curiosity I was suddenly hit with an eerie feeling that they knew I was watching them. That's when I thought it could be some kind of alien craft. Telepathic aliens at that. I came to the conclusion that the movement was some kind of defensive movement, so these aliens have enemies! If anyone has any other theories about this I'd be pleased to know, cos I don't know of anything normal in the sky that moves that way. |

the sightings of ufos seemed to peak, and there were very few ghost sightings.
not so many miracles reported these days either. odd that ufos didnt turn up way back when. maybe they just found us when tv was invented. why are so many ufos spotted in usa, and why are so many americans abducted by these aliens, when other more remote countries dont have any ufos nor abductions. why did so may people see the loch ness monster? post uri geller why did so many people claim to be able to bend spoons? |

Nothing in human knowledge could move -and then stop- at such speed. |

Love those beautiful pics you posted , Baphornet .I used to believe in UFO's being little , tall green men , flying about in their flying machines , up until about 10 years ago, but we are all now in a time when billions of people on earth , have mobile phones . Where is the footage of the 10 foot green , gold or pink aliens , being in a field somewhere , removing cows udders or whatever their supposed to be come here for .I'D LOVE IT TO BE TRUE but i now file ufo's in the same place that i file , the monster of the loch . That's just my opinion and i hope i'm wrong about it , because i'd love to meet a 10 foot tall female alien .

thanks chaps. I'd like to run a thought past anyone who is interested? You can scoff or laugh, no matter, it's something that occurred to me a while back.
There is a theory that only a certain amount of people can see ghosts. They may be hypersensitive or psychic; even psychologists & sceptics alike admit that being in an altered state or changes in brain chemistry caused by stress, build up of hormones etc. your brain can be stimulated into actually believing there is a presence near you, or indeed seeing one. These of course are scientific explanations. But it doesn't mean it hasn't happened, does it? Just because your brain has become more receptive to thought & vision, doesn't mean you were hallucinating, does it? So to my thought; what if the same may be true of UFO sightings/abductions etc? Using the exact same principle? So if scientists & sceptics alike believe your brain can allow you to see 'presences' then why not UFO's. If so, why has this never been put forward as a reason or explanation? Also; maybe spectres/presences use the same principle. Maybe UFO'S only reveal themselves to people let's say, or a certain disposition? That would go someway into explaining why some sightings are in broad daylight. when most are at night. Einstein, amongst others evaluated that humans only used 10% of their brain. This has now been debunked; but it's been debunked by people who admit that if you actually used 100% of your brain, we would all be having seizures. So what is the actual figure? Whatever it is; it's fact that some use more of their brain than others. Now would that make these people seers, or sceptics? Just my thoughts |

I will scoff and laugh. You're talking about only certain people being able to see UFOs and ghosts which is probably true. They're generally known as nutters.

1972 i was 9 , i lived in Hackney, London, one evening, about 5.30pm (probably autumn/winter as it was dark) my nan use to sit by a wall near our flats while me , my Brother who was 7 and our friend Albert who was 10, use to ride our bikes along the the pathway next to a big field, waiting for my mum to come along when she finished work, this certain evening, i looked up in the sky, and slowly moving, silently, over the flats we lived in was an object, which was like the light we had in our living room, a small circle in the middle, three arms coming out of it and three bigger circles on the end of each arm, which were glowing lighter then darker, when i called out to the others, my nan called us to come over to be nearer her, as she was worried about what it was, it was so long ago, but can remember thinking at the time it was big and about 400/500 yards up in the sky, it never made a sound, it wasn't a balloon,. the following night there was a programme on called tonight, with Eamon Andrews, and he was talking to people near Hackney Marshes (about 3 miles from us) who claimed to have seen a UFO the same night...
I lost touch with Albert, then saw him about 30 years later,(about 6 years ago), i asked him if he remembered, and he said, its something he will never forget..None of us are druggies or wrong'uns. But would love to go back to see it again. |

But maybe as Charlie says, we're all nutters.
one of the nutters ended up working in a bank, the other a publican and the other nutter a fireman. |
|
By:
Get me a drink & saddo; there's been numerous sightings of such movement over the years, and it was usually from a close-up perspective. Namely pilots/astronauts. They of course were probably nutters/right charlies

Baphornet read my post.
Do you really believe only certain people can see UFOs and ghosts? |
|
By:
crop circles, yeti, loch ness monster, ghosts with heads under arms, big foot
chariots of the gods, the templar legacy all money makers any of em true, provable, a single proof? |
|
By:
what proof do you actually want, donny? A spaceship in the garden? There is plenty of photographic 'proof' Some that the most sceptical of people even can't explain. Oratory & witness accounts? Plenty of those as well, unless of course they are all 'right charlies' I've never had J Lo in my bed but i know she exists. Or does sight not matter?
|
|
By:
by the way you missed out religion from your list above. And religion (biggest moneymaker?) is very important in this discussion
|

By:
Baphornet you are very good at not answering what we ask.
|
|
By:
who's we?
|
|
By:
Myself and donny.
|

By:
Are you really as dim as you come across Baphornet?
|
|
By:
there you have your answer to why i ignored you, Charlie
as for Donny, when he asks me a question i will answer |
|
By:
So you ignored me because you are dim.
Donny asked you a question in his only post. |
|
By:
i answered it, you can read?
|
|
By:
I can. But you obviously can't understand what people say. Do you know what proof means?
|
|
By:
i ignored you because your venom was quite obvious from your first statement; your next insult was therefore expected. And you kindly provided it
|
|
By:
You are welcome to me venom when you talk bollocks.

By:
charlie you are coming across as very tiresome and a little stupid. If you want a fight try the football forum as you are boring me

This was your OP:
Thoughts, couldn't care less or any other rants welcome I take it you didn't mean it? |
