BofE 12th May 2016

The Bank warned a vote to leave the EU could:

Push the pound lower, “perhaps sharply”.... Yup.
Prompt households and businesses to delay spending.... Nah.
    Increase unemployment..... The opposite
    Hit economic growth...Nonsense. The opposite.
    Stoke inflation. Ha!
https://www.theguardian.com/business/2016/may/12/bank-of-england-keeps-interest-rates-on-hold-as-brexit-fears-bite

So, 1 out of 5? Not very impressive is it. Even a cheaper pound led to greater profits for the FTSE 100 and exporters. It also led to a huge boost tourism in the UK. So even a lower pound hasn't been all bad...

They could had released all these press stories at any time.

Also i cant remember the last time the BofE got anything correct.

Well done for backtracking on your original point.

In 2016 the BofE were part of the plan to warn us against leaving the EU. They continue to do that.

Doing the opposite of what the establishment tells us is a pretty good plan imo.

theres a huge majority in the commons that says no deal wont happen, yet carney said he,s working for the government and he,s told no deal is more likely than 6 months ago, completely the opposite to what the people he,s working for have been saying this week,

according to the mp,s no deal is less likely now than its ever been but carney says its more likely than its ever been, how  can both scenario,s be true

Report moisok November 28, 2018 6:11 PM GMT
Treasury smessury - I make no apology for repeating this as I am sick of the lies and scaremongering flooding everywhere

the same august institution (a heavily biased pro eu civil service) said this below  so how can we trust what they say and remember the emergency budget we would need if we voted the wrong way
Within two years of a Leave vote, the Treasury predicted that GDP would be between 3.6 and 6 percent lower and the number of people unemployed would rise by as much as 820,000. The predictions in the May 2016 “study” sounded dire, and were clearly aimed at having the maximum impact on the vote, which would be held a month later. Goebbels would be proud of these jokers.

Just weeks before the referendum, the then-chancellor George Osborne cited the report to warn that “a vote to leave would represent an immediate and profound shock to our economy” and that “the shock would push our economy into recession and lead to an increase in unemployment of around 500,000.”
It's the lies and how they tell them - keep telling them and they sit in the people's psyche - very very nasty and despicable but also very manipulative.  It diverts attention away from the benefits of leaving whilst the tv news focuses solely on the scare stories.
It's like the old joke of when did you stop beating your ............. etc etc ....

and people with a wedge in the bank

with 30% houseprice crash ,5,5% interest rates how could banks survive that when they went into meltdown over buying some dodgey loans from the us 10 years ago
Report screaming from beneaththewaves November 28, 2018 6:16 PM GMT
Worth bearing in mind that these numbers quoted are the most extreme worst-case scenario. They assume that every other nation in the world chooses to punish us by refusing to negotiate any more free-trade agreements ever.
Report screaming from beneaththewaves November 28, 2018 6:24 PM GMT
The drop in GDP is only a reduction from how the BofE guesses GDP would increase if we didn't leave.

The forecast itself says that by 2020 GDP would already be back to what it is now. Combine that with the fall in population assumed by the forecast, and nobody actually living in this country would notice a difference.
Report moisok November 28, 2018 6:24 PM GMT
you do realise even the way they go about examining these figures and CREATING them is very suspect

do they even let us know exactly what they are using as they seem to be very secretive about it

as I understand it the economic model they use is extremely suspect

just chuck in the fact they have been wrong so many times along with the IMF and the rest of them.

look at the above 3.6  and 6 percent doom predicted which never happened AFTER  the vote  - charlatans the lot of them

unemployment up 800,000  - they are complete bar stewards and biscuit brain the self serving Brussels mouthpiece cheers them on quite falsely
THEY HAVE NO IDEA  they do not know!!  Just scare stories from people who want to keep it as it is and all their fat cat jobs within the eu gravy train

If there is a no deal and the pound crashes a bit, a simple way to in effect short it is to buy shares/funds that are held in say the dollar so if there is a crash you get the corresponding rise in value.

I'm thinking the markets aren't expecting a no deal and are set for a deal or an extension of p1ssing around, a deal won't change the pound much, so I might do a bit of that myself next week "in case".

All of negatives outcomes according to the canadian goldman sachs globalist plant, only bad for the super rich.

For me it would be briliant, Cheaper houses, high interest rates & the pound crashes then our country will become even more of a tourist attraction. Inflation is just rubbish, we are not Zimbabwe. We are an Island of rich resources and if we cannot produce enough for the population then the population is too many.
