Doesn't matter how much research anyone does--if Crippen disagrees with the results they have to be wrong.

A recent survey states that almost one third of drivers have had an accident or a near miss caused by slow drivers on all roads.

So we're not driving quickly enough. Then what are the speed cameras for?
Has anyone ever been prosecuted for driving too slowly through a speed camera? |

You were only doing 20mph when the speed limit is 30 mph Yes but people kept stepping off the pavement. No excuse, fined £100. |

I've never seen an accident caused by someone who was driving too slowly.
But I've seen plenty of accidents where excessive speed was involved. |

Saw a motorcycle cop yesterday, he was on a main road with a queue of traffic in front of which was held up.
He overtook them at speed, on the wrong side of the road including a small island provided for pedestrians. I expected a car to appear from the opposite direction or a pedestrian to walk into him from out of the queue of traffic. A pedestrian wouldn't be looking to see a vehicle coming from that direction with the traffic held up. I though yes, and that's the kind of lunatic who stops people to check if they're slightly over the limit. |

Probably should revert to being asked to walk a straight line or similar sobriety tests when pulled over by police for suspected drink driving.
Those that could hold their drink would be fine and those who were very drunk or whose drinking would affect their driving would be prosecuted. |

So the message should be - if you drink and drive, then drink well within your limit.
But above all drive extra carefully and keep off the main roads where speeds are generally higher. |
