Are there really people in the US who want to open the borers to anyone demanding entry, however many they may be?
By:

When: 02 Nov 18 17:29
Saddo, if that's a genuine question, then the answer is yes, and not who you'd expect. Libertarians are proponents of open borders and feel the government should not interfere in immigration as the free market will take care of everything. Think of that what you will.

I class myself as one on social issues but not economic. You might think them mental, but they do add to the debate. Especially when the Dem v Rep back and forth can be the same old arguments.

President Donald Trump’s closing argument for the midterm elections includes a tweet featuring convicted cop killer Luis Bracamontes, who killed two Sacramento-area deputies in a 2014 rampage.

The tweet features video of Bracamontes spewing profanities while on trial in Sacramento County Superior Court, a frequent occurrence in the years of court hearings he faced.

But the president’s claim that “Democrats let him into our country” is not entirely accurate, and neither is the claim that “Democrats let him stay.”

Bracamontes, who is now on death row at San Quentin State Prison for the October 2014 slayings of Sacramento County Sheriff’s Deputy Danny Oliver and Placer County Sheriff’s Deputy Michael Davis Jr., first came into the United States in 1993, when he was 16 and Democrat Bill Clinton was president.

Bracamontes, who grew up in Sinaloa, Mexico, entered the country illegally, crossing into Arizona.

The Maricopa County (Ariz.) Sheriff’s Office has told The Sacramento Bee previously that he was first arrested in Phoenix in 1996. Prosecutors in Phoenix say he was arrested Sept. 25, 1996, on deportable drug offenses related to marijuana possession and sentenced to four months in jail starting in January 1997.

Bracamontes served his time in then-Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s tent-city jail, then was handed over to federal immigration agents and deported on June 3, 1997, during Clinton’s second term.

He apparently did not stay in Mexico long. Records in Arizona show he was arrested on drug charges again in Phoenix in 1998, then released “for reasons unknown” by Arpaio’s office. Arpaio is a Republican.

Bracamontes was next arrested May 4, 2001, on marijuana charges in Maricopa County, and deported three days later. Republican George W. Bush was president at the time, and was president when Bracamontes slipped back into the United States a short time later.

The date of his re-entry is not clear, but records show Bracamontes was married in Maricopa County on Feb. 28, 2002, when Bush was president.

By then, Bracamontes had been living near Salt Lake City where he remained until 2014, when he and his wife embarked upon a methamphetamine-fueled trip that ended with their arrests in Placer County after the deputies were killed.

To be fair seeding 15000 troops at a cost of aprox $150m (for a month or so) to guard the border against a few thousand desperadoes is a great way of spending U.S taxpayers money - great optics as well. It's not like this caravan (as pretty much all the others over the past years that were barely reported) would have petered out to a few hundred after all. Thing is, it will work this time but there is only so much hate that can be distilled from something that obviously isn't what it is being portrayed as. Anyone with half a working brain can work out that 'middle eastern' terrorists (Trumps mates the Saudis by chance?) would try and get into the US this way. There has not been 1 single attack by anyone from outside America illieagaly entering U.S  i believe - all attacks have been by U.s citizens, or those let in legally and only 1 person has been apprehended at a border and that was Canada!

As lfc has said it's at no cost as they would be paid no mater where they were. I know you were being sarcastic but it is in fact a great way of spending US taxpayers money.

No cost? Where are they going to stay, how are they going to get there, while they are there what are they going to do in downtime, what are they going to do in the month or 2 it is going to take this evil hoard to get to the border, what equipment will be needed, how will it be powered and what if it ends up being long-term etc etc etc? I have no idea how you think the world goes round but it certainly isn't what is in your own heads!
To take your argument further, the military cost nothing over all - or rather what it does in the field costs nothing as they would all be being paid anyway, that rather subverts the argument made by the right that troops should be withdrawn (from foreign fields) as it costs too much - according to you lot it costs nothing! As for trump saying that he stopped the exercises with S Korea because of the cost , well you are calling him a liar as according to you it doesn't cost anything.
It's either bizarre or just plain dumb to argue that it costs the same to have troops in base than it does to have them out in the field - wherever that field is and whatever it is they do. Weird, just plain weird.

Well funnily enough saddo opening borders to economic migrants that want to work makes a lot of sense, especially if that country is ageing and needs, firstly workers but also people to pay tax to pay for the 'home' population's pensions and health service use (if that country has a health service paid for by taxes). They are usually young and healthy and are net contributors to the economy as they don't use as many resources as the home pop and usually bugger off before any of the taxes they have paid are used for them. A well run, efficient migrant workers system is exactly what the U.S needs and wouldn't cost that much to set up and it could be policed so it isn't worth dropping out the system - unlike the current system. A win win for all concerned.

It takes a lifetime of work , a lifetime of paying taxes to provide and support the NHS example
That is something old people have done, it is something no migrants have done
And is just one example of why migrants are always inevitably a drain on resources , not a benefit , it is an inevitable consequence
By:
lfc1971
When: 07 Nov 18 19:34
Migrants by the very definition of being migrants are users  of resources already there and paid for by previous generations over a lifetime of work and paying taxes
