Went to see it today at an imax cinema today and really enjoyed it. As a Queen fan was a little sceptical but ended up really enjoying it. Think Rami Malek should at the very least be an Oscar nomination for his performance.

Also thought Gwilym Lee was superb as Brian May.

Haven't seen the film yet but trailer looks really good, "Roger, there’s only room in this band for one hysterical queen."

Bohemian Rhapsody is a foot-stomping celebration of Queen, their music and their extraordinary lead singer Freddie Mercury. Freddie defied stereotypes and shattered convention to become one of the most beloved entertainers on the planet. The film traces the meteoric rise of the band through their iconic songs and revolutionary sound. They reach unparalleled success, but in an unexpected turn Freddie, surrounded by darker influences, shuns Queen in pursuit of his solo career. Having suffered greatly without the collaboration of Queen, Freddie manages to reunite with his bandmates just in time for Live Aid. While bravely facing a recent AIDS diagnosis, Freddie leads the band in one of the greatest performances in the history of rock music. Queen cements a legacy that continues to inspire outsiders, dreamers and music lovers to this day.

imax is a bigger screen, bigger from top to bottom

so when you watch you see screen and not much else, its pretty good.

some cinemas do cheaper tickets with tesco vouchers if you have them

You can get a 50% ticket reduction if you can do the fandango.

But you must DO it, to the ticket clerk first, without warning.

@leazes67. How so is it scary about Sacha??? You do "get" Sacha don't you???

OK I wasn't surprised when it went belly up with him and Bohemian Rhapsody but I think it was more a problem with the remaining members of Queen not wanting him there rather than him.

The film critics haven't been kind ! Saying Freddie has been sanitised.
Is this true ?

I'd recommend seeing this on the biggest screen possible. Every Queen fan I've spoken to (although obviously not that many) enjoyed it.

Facts if it's that important to you to see a more detailed version of his slow painful death, and more detail of his homosexual lifestyle and wild parties then this film isn't for you.

Went to see it last Saturday. Good enough film but a bit light and fluffy, couldve been a PG.
All just seemed a bit hollow/fake. That said it's worth a watch. The band aid scenes at the end are top notch

Judging by the trailers for Rocketman - the Elton John biopic coming out next year - Reg's lifelong big issue will be sanitised by portraying him with long hair from start to finish.

Hugely enjoyable and Rami Malek understandably completely steals the show. If it's thought-provoking stuff you're after then look elsewhere, but if you're happy enough to simply watch a very decent movie with a stomping soundtrack then you'll enjoy it. Lots. And in answer to the question is it worth going to the cinema then yes, absolutely.

Not quite the diss you were waiting for Bigmo - I haven't seen it, but hadn't planned to either as I just f*kg cannot stand Queen. All downhill from Seven Seas of Rye. BR massively overated imo. Something about all that posturing that makes my skin crawl.
