The Army is investigating after far-right activist Tommy Robinson posted a photo of himself surrounded by a group of young soldiers. The former English Defence League leader also put a video of the scene on Facebook, in which the men could be heard cheering and shouting his name. The Army said it was aware of the posts and "investigating the circumstances".

A spokeswoman said: "Far-right ideology is completely at odds with the values and ethos of the armed forces."

She added: "The armed forces have robust measures in place to ensure those exhibiting extremist views are neither tolerated nor permitted to serve."

The photograph and video appear to have been taken outside a motorway service area and Mr Robinson described the group as "young recruits". Mr Robinson wrote on Facebook: "A moment like this makes it all worth while. Today I met real British heroes (sic)."

Responding to news of the investigation, Mr Robinson said in a video post that he had met the soldiers "by chance" and they should not be "left hung out to dry" for having their photo taken with him.

Imam Asim Hafiz, Islamic religious adviser to the armed forces, said "any form of racism, discrimination or extremism is taken extremely seriously and will be dealt with accordingly".

saddo - It's inevitable . There are numerous examples throughout history of governments being overthrown , usually by the national military . By intervening in this latest incident , and early indications are that at least one of the servicemen has already been dismissed , the establishment have made the same mistake that many other governments have made in the past and that is to turn on those who have access to all the armoury and weopons necessary to remove them from power .

Bizarre as it seems , this whole situation appears to have been contrived by various World/European leaders over the last 10-20 years but I'm still struggling to work out what anyone has to gain out of all this chaos in the long term Confused

British soldiers are used to uphold democracy and free speech around the world

Yet they're not allowed speech themselves?

I suggest anyone who considers joining the armed forces should think again if they value having their own opinions.

The only people who would get anything out of joining the Armed forces nowadays, are the Homeless, then once they've finished there stint, they will be back on the streets again, as we need the housing for our friendly immigrants

''Imam Asim Hafiz, Islamic religious advisor to the Chief of the Defence Staff and service chiefs, has been made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for his services to defence and support of operations in Afghanistan.

The honour is in recognition of Mr Hafiz’s work in providing spiritual and pastoral support to Muslims serving in the UK armed forces. It’s a very timely recognition, as it comes during Islam Awareness Week, which is dedicated to raising awareness of Britain’s second largest faith group.''

I wonder how many soldiers get OBEs for putting their lives on the line?

I'd imagine since most of our defence spend is on doing the bidding of Haliburton and Lockheed and blowing up things in the Middle East it might actually be a good idea to have an expert or two on the people there.

.
It has been revealed that the British Army has launched an investigation into a photo and video of political activist Tommy Robinson with a group of British Army cadets.

The cadets are seen smiling in the photograph and chant Tommy Robinson's name in the video posted to social media.

UKIP Leader Gerard Batten commented:

"British Army cadets are brave patriots who have made the noble decision to fight for Queen and Country.

"Tommy Robinson has put his life and liberty on the line campaigning against the worst excesses of literalist Islam and these cadets recognise that. It's a disgrace that the military establishment has once again caved in to pressure from the cult of political correctness and has ordered an investigation. By calling Tommy Robinson 'far-right' the military demonises anyone who stands up to defend Western values.

"Any disciplinary action against these cadets will send a clear message that our military establishment no longer stands for defending the values which made our country the greatest in the world."
