The State telling people what to wear is a dangerous route to take.

Have to disagree with you on that Mac.
I'd have a Ministry of Dress and would put Jacob Rees-Mogg in charge of it.
He'd soon smarten up the country.

Maybe if these communist nutters in Corbyn's Labour get power we can do what they have in north korea and only allow a certain number of approved haircuts.

Complaining about Boris and his Islamic comments.
Watched Ricky Tomlinson on one of his many chat show appearances.
Said he saw a Muslim woman coming up his drive. Full dress including the face mask.
After she chapped his door he shouted through the letterbox "How do you like it."  Grin

Panellists:
        Chris Skidmore
    Barry Gardiner
    Vince Cable
    Nazir Afzal
    Camilla Tominey

Another balanced panel of 4 who voted Remain and 1 who voted Leave. There would be meltdown if ever it were the other way round (but of course the unbiased BBC would never allow that).

The left trying to say anyone who opposes them is "far right" and saying someone is a racist or whatever is just so predictable now.

There certainly are some worrying aspects of the far right in hungary but all this rubbish about Orban being a "fascist" is just ridiculous.

The eastern countries haven't become PC **** yet and are standing up for their people and culture, doesn't make them nazis, but it really gets under the skin of the usual suspects (like the BBC of course).

I mean look at the stuff about Orban and Soros. The guy is constantly meddling in Hungarian politics and wants open immigration into it. Orban openly stands up against him, but because he's Jewish they start playing the victim and "anti semite" card. If you look at the "anti semitic billboards" that the BBC and the lefties go on about there is nothing that there that is anti semetic about them or the text on them, there is no reference to his religion at all. But of course the leftie media etc here don't need proof do they. It's pathetic. Soros (pro immigration leftie so loved by you know who) said it was anti semitic so that's all there is to it. If Orban was a *****ing Jedi or atheist I'm sure the posters would be the same.

The Hungarians do not want Islam established in their country and who can blame them. They have seen what a success it hasn't been in Northern Europe.

The BBC cannot seriously play the anti-semitic card with a straight face

..when their hatred of Israel is so palpable.     Or does that not count as anti-semitic ? Crazy

On the political right the fall-away from the political centre is portrayed as being exceptionally close to that centre and almost unbelievably vertiginous from there.

You might step one place to the right by arguing for lower taxes say.  But take one step further and – woah – it’s all the way down to Nazism.

Take a step leftwards, by contrast, and you can just keep going and going, running all the way to the end.

An end that never includes the Gulag

Should have put a ? after my question, but I doubt any of the usual suspects can tell me why Hungary should accept a religion it does not like or want. And given that they don't want it, is forcing them to do so possible?

We currently have hate as a crime but are moving to not liking as a crime. Embrace or be labelled a racist or worse.
By:

When: 24 Sep 18 15:28
The label is merely someone else's opinion in a word and has little chance of changing what people actually think. At best it can stop them voicing those thoughts, for a while at least.

Because they are not only a Member of the EU (a supra-National state, whose edicts trump Hungary's democratic decisions), they are also a major recipient of funds from the EU, so basically Brussels have them by the ging-gangs.

The UK decides to leave the EU and Brussels immediately starts picking random numbers out of thin air on how much we owe them. Hungary ever decides to leave and they'll get given a gold watch.

So they can force them. But you can't suppress a population for ever, as brexit proved, feelings  will out one day.

a debate about a tv programme becomes an echo chamber for hatred....

Precisely the reason why those on the left prefer to stifle debate .
It avoids any likelihood that their argument wouldn't stand up to scrutiny .
