One can only begin to wonder about the carnage that would have ensued had police not been allowed to Stop and Search, and if the Knife Detectors and thousands of police officers had not been deployed.
All this so that people can shake their backsides for a two day 'celebration' of countries that the majority of the attendees have probably never visited. Britain can't afford to bankroll events like this. If people want to celebrate Caribbean culture, there are dozens of carnivals in the Caribbean they can go to, and a hell of a lot more peaceful than the Notting Hill drivel. |

It's quite simple:
If every August Bank Holiday Stoke Poges held an event where people were routinely stabbed and killed, where possession of drugs was practically de rigueur and where every single policeman in the country was required to do overtime, it would be banned. We all know why the Notting Hill Carnival has not been banned. |

Police have slammed Notting Hill Carnival revellers after it was revealed 30 officers were injured over the weekend after being bitten, spat at and assaulted.
The assaults were branded 'totally unacceptable' by senior staff and the Met Police Federation, which represents officers' interests. The bottom line is that we've lost control of the streets and respect for the police will soon be as low as it can get.
The remedy is simple, a change in the law is all that's needed. Simple remove the protection of the law for anyone who is operating outside of the law. And anyone who challenges the authority of a policeman can be deemed to be acting outside of the law. We'll get there eventually. |
