Evening Standard reporting a large number of arrests already from Day One, for a whole series of nasty offences. Weapons, drugs, sexual assault, vandalism, attacks on police officers all getting a look in.
Why on earth should the public have to put up with (and bankroll policing for) this pernicious annual festival of crime? Remember, it's only a few months since the Presidents Club charity event was permanently shut down after allegations (but no actual arrests) of sexual misconduct by wealthy men. What's so special about the Notting Hill Carnivall that it MUST be allowed to take place year after year, at great cost to the taxpayer, when it has such a lamentable track record, permanently associated in the public mind with crime ? . https://www.standard.co.uk/news/crime/notting-hill-carnival-36-arrests-on-first-day-as-police-step-up-stopandsearch-a3920681.html |

TWO more victims in east london polis are worried they are related yet NO DESCRIPTIONS
same in other areas two more murders NO DESCRIPTIONS |
|
By:
sorry that should read elsewhere two murders - they think they know who it is but won't give out description
why? |
|
By:
sky hide the description but the mail has it as BLACK male - so why is a dangerous man loose on the run in east landan - very dangerous - yet sky national news hides it - but you have to read the male to find out
why - any ideas |
|
By:
By creating this confusion the general assumption is that ever crime that comes without a description was done by a person of colour.
So if it were a white person had done the deed and no description was given, we always assume it was done by a dark skinned person. Therefore the media are protecting white criminals by doing this, and creating the impression that most of the crime is done by the minor ethnic groups. Which is what they were seeking to avoid in the first place. |

Even by the standards of this national disgrace of a 'Carnival', Day One (described by organisers as Family Day and Children's Day) resulted in a staggering 133 arrests, and the seizure of 20 weapons.
What sort of psychos take weapons to a 'Carnival' ? Is there ANY other annual event in this country that is allowed to take place, which a similar track record of crime? . https://www.standard.co.uk/news/crime/notting-hill-carnival-arrests-133-held-with-20-weapons-seized-by-police-on-first-day-a3920766.html |

We were warned about creeping lawlessness decades ago. With more rights for the criminals and fewer effective powers for the police.
Everybody carries a camera now as well which which makes coppers afraid to go in hard. In fact they're reluctant to go in at all for fear of being filmed and crossing the line. Armed officers get suspended if they shoot anyone and risk being taken to court. So they have trouble finding coppers who are prepared to train in the use of firearms. It all adds up to create a lawless society which is what we are close to having now. |

If those levels of offences took place at the cup final every year there would soon be calls to shut it down and ban it. |

The BBC actually believe, if they don't broadcast it, it hasn't happened.
The local councils ban Conker competitions for fear of kids hurting there thumbs. But the same council allow The carnival to go ahead every year. If i was The chief of The Metropolitan police, i'd say, you can have your carnival, but we won't police it . I wonder what would happen then ? |

We all get stoned

79 arrests so far today.....
There have been 79 arrests at the carnival so far today, including 40 for drugs offences. Four arrests have been made for assaults on police, 20 for the possession of an offensive weapon one each for drink-driving, robbery and actual bodily harm. |

There's still a good 20 minutes left for further crimes to be committed, but it's been another year of extraordinary crime levels despite the policing and security resources that have been indulged on this foul event.
