Let me make it simple for you , when the Scottish people hold a referendum to leave or to remain as part of the UK
They must be obeyed

When the British people hold a referendum to leave of remain as part of the EU
They must be obeyed

That’s democracy , now I , unlike Clydebank or perhaps yourself I don’t know , don’t want a strong leader overturning that vote

well they certainly agreed to abide by the EU ref but that is not the same as legally having to.
also i never said Holyrood got to decide anything I just said they drew up the proposal. Obviously
it would have been done in consultation with Westminster but not under the same rules as a UK
parliamentary ref.

Clydebank's description is spot on. You have to feel some sympathy for Teresa May. She's being asked to lead the country off a cliff. If she does so, then she'll go down in history as the leader of the dumbest decision ever, if she doesn't she'll have the haters after her blood regardless of how sensible it might be. Quite clearly some sort of compromise is required but the hardliners won't allow it.

I don’t think you are telling us anything of any importance apart from throwing up dust
Of course neither you nor Clydebank haa bothered to answer the questions
That’s ok , we know it’s not easy

She's going nowhere your stuck with her for a good few years yet

Cameron was forced out the morning of the result, she continues to carry on with no opposition despite being totally f****** useless

go figure

There’s another one who won’t be able to be honest , oh well perhaps they shouldn’t be allowed another Scottish referendum if that’s the case

the whole thing about the Scots ref was in answer to your question.

now is asparagus a remainer and a lover of strong leadership
Well that tells you a lot right there about them
By:

When: 09 Jul 18 11:41
northanlite it didn’t answer my question now did it
Have another go
By:
lfc1971
When: 09 Jul 18 11:43
The question was who said it was advisory , why did we vote , why is it different from the Scottish ref
etc...the question is why

Now go ahead and answer if you can
By:
lfc1971
When: 09 Jul 18 11:45
As I have explained there is no difference between the Scottish ref and the EU ref

If there is you will have to say why , go ahead ...

Referendums are not legally binding, so legally the Government can ignore the results; for example, even if the result of a pre-legislative referendum were a majority of "No" for a proposed law, Parliament could pass it anyway, because parliament is sovereign.

you seem to be angry at people for pointing out facts.

if there were no difference how come 16 & 17 year olds could vote?

By:

was the Scottish ref legally binding and if it is why is the EU ref not ?

You seem to be incapable of addressing the question, I don’t know why that is
I

It doesn’t matter who can vote if the ref says 18 age that is what must be abused by
Now try not to be silly , they were held in different days as well

Most of them were Scottish also , that’s ok
By:

When: 09 Jul 18 11:52
errr i would say voting age is a pretty fundamental difference
By:
lfc1971
When: 09 Jul 18 11:53
so any chance of an answer northanlite, we won’t get one from Clydebank it seems
Remainers are like that
By:
northanlite
When: 09 Jul 18 11:55
if i knew what the question was then maybe.
By:
lfc1971
When: 09 Jul 18 11:55
northanlite voting age may be fundamental I don’t care , they didn’t vote
Now that has been the case in every vote that has ever taken place in history
Some people don’t vote , now that is neither here nor there
Try and think logically
Any chance of an answer , no ?
By:
lfc1971
When: 09 Jul 18 11:58
Let’s try this again
should  the result of the Scottish ref , leave or remain, be able to be overturned by a strong leader ?
As Clydebank believes

Go ahead ...
By:
northanlite
When: 09 Jul 18 12:06
when did he suggest that? you're supposed arguments are all over the place.
who tried to overturn the Scottish referendum?
i'm sure in your head you know what you mean but it isn't very clear.
By:
lfc1971
When: 09 Jul 18 12:08
now now northanlite no one is going to be fooled by that answer

Go ahead , try and be honest ....
By:
northanlite
When: 09 Jul 18 12:13
seriously wtf are you on about??? i thought we were just discussing the legalities of referendums, which seemed to make you
angry for some reason.
who tried to overturn the indy ref? nobody did
By:
lfc1971
When: 09 Jul 18 12:14
you sound angry to me northanlite

Why can you not answer the question ?
By:
lfc1971
When: 09 Jul 18 12:17
you don’t have to , sometimes the question is more important than the answer
By:
lfc1971
When: 09 Jul 18 12:18
more enlightening
By:

When: 09 Jul 18 12:20
Im pretty sure the margin wouldn't be enough to be ratified in an election, it would be a hung parliament.
By:
northanlite
When: 09 Jul 18 12:20
not angry at all. a tad confused. you are asking me whether indy ref should have been what, overturned by the PM
if it had gone against them?
By:
lfc1971
When: 09 Jul 18 12:24
Ah I think the Scots , and ourselves , were under the impression that one vote was enough
In fact the remain camp made that very clear at the time
Now perhaps a remainer can answer the question , or anyone really we are not having any success with northanlite

Why ? I don’t know
By:
lfc1971
When: 09 Jul 18 12:26
northanlite that is what people don’t like about remainers and Scots nationalists
Their dishonesty

Now if you don’t want I answer the simple question that’s fine
Don’t expect anyone to be fooled that
By:
northanlite
When: 09 Jul 18 12:26
i'm looking back up this thread and you ask a number of questions all of which get answered or at least discussed
and then you reply "answer the question" only later on do you enlighten us with what that question actually is.
it is quite bizarreSilly
i will leave you to disappear deeper down your rabbit hole
By:
lfc1971
When: 09 Jul 18 12:28
There we go , no answer from northanlite
That tells you all you need to know :)

Cant you go back to rimming your dog or something?
By:

When: 09 Jul 18 12:34
I didnt vote.
But cant we all agree that nobody had a clue wtf they were actually voting for?
Does anyone know even now?
So to that end the whole thing was nonsense in my book.
By:
lfc1971
When: 09 Jul 18 12:34
Here is the question again

Would the result of the Scottish ref , leave or remain, be able to be overturned by a strong leader ?

So far our Scottish friends  northanlite and Clydebank have failed to answer
Why that should be is a mystery
By:
lfc1971
When: 09 Jul 18 12:36
* should it , and if so why ?

Too difficult for the remainers or the Scots nationalists ?
By:
lfc1971
When: 09 Jul 18 12:37
Let’s see .....
