Extremist arsonists against the arts and crafts movement? Seems a bit far-fetched.
Whether there should be some sort of enquiry into how these fires are dealt with, as with Grenfell, is a good question imo. Do our fire brigades have the right equipment? |

Wasn't it torched a few years back?

Was there a year or so before the first fire, a beautiful building and amazing interior, such a shame.

We seem to be seeing more fires than in past, you would think with technology they would be protected better.

A nightwatch man might have discovered the fire earlier but you only see them now on cricket pitches.

Most of the original décor was lost in the last fire.
So all that's been lost was modern replacements in the style of Macintosh. Can't see anyone getting hit on twice here for donations. Lots of anger and lots of questions. Was there a sprinkler system and if no why not? |

Also a suggestion that the whole building might need to be demolished.

Last week the great and the good were having lunch in the newly refurbised Mackintosh tearoom which is only 200 yards away, its
due to open soon to mark the man's 150th anniversary. Glasgow treated him very badly but now the city makes a fortune out of his legacy. |
