Ps have recently loved watching Dinnerladies.

Veiled racist joke when the royals visit the canteen.

The Duchess meets and greets the staff and says to Asian in appearance Anita: 'Are you an Immigrant'?

Anita says no. 'So you don't feel the cold then?!' Laugh

Probably wouldn't be allowed now.

Mandy Smith aged 13! I am lead to believe.

Alf Garnet was the master! Definately would not be allowed now!

Can't say I was a fan of that show in the 90s, seemed quite depressing with almost every scene filmed in the kitchen.
I'd also agree that most US comedies are dire - about 90% of them anyway.

But several of the 10% that aren't, are superb.

Read the reviews for Only Fools & Horses on Amazon. So many scenes cut from the early series; punters not happy

Porridge. The scene with Black Scot MClaren.

'I hate that screw Fletch. He once called me a black bastard'

'Now be fair Jock. You are of course of negro origin. And you woz conceived illegitmately. So technically....'

Silly

The show should have been left alone anyway imo. Was good at the time. Agree Platini - Curb Your Enthusiasm is probably my fave US comedy.

There`s the obvious well known ones like Big Bang, and Curb, but two lesser known little gems are `Parks and Recreation, and `Veep`; both multi-award winners, both highly recommended. Seeing as most of the posters on here are really posting about Politics, `Veep` might be most appropriate, as it follows the ups and downs of the US Vice President, played fantastically by Julia Louis Dreyfuss. Any similarity to Hillary Clinton is, I`m sure, entirely coincidental...

Are you really that ignorant?
I wonder if it is worth arguing with an idiot!

Well there you go, what kind of a person talks about PC then comes on here and posts stuff like that simply over an opinion that they disagree with?

I'll leave the other readers to work that out.

You get what you deserve when you make a racist comment or make reference to someone's skin colour. Look how Nish Kumar's career has come crashing down after saying "Piers Morgan is essentially what would happen if someone injected a gammon steak with WHITE privilege" oh sorry forgot one rule for one etc etc Mischief not that Piers Morgan isn't a coont but the colour of his skin has no bearing.

Why should her career be ruined for merely saying what most people of her ilk think anyway?

I'm sure it would take more than a comment like that to upset Piers Morgan.

It's getting to be a case of tit-for-tat. She was hung out to dry in retaliation, because others before her on the other side of the coin were hung out to dry for racial comments.

Still amazed how Diane Abbott got away with it in the present climate.

So it is alright to make racist remarks is it?

DrC was making the point that Diane Abbott has made plenty of racist remarks and still has her job.
Why do you think that is condoning racism? Seems quite an idiotic stance to take.

Treating one side better than the other is standard tactics in the divide and conquer game.

While we're too busy fighting amongst ourselves our rulers won't be challenged and can do as they please.

What about Joy Reid, who did much worse, how does the left accept that ?

The problem we have now is all the virtue signallers jumping on any silly comments people make and demanding action.
The waiting to be offended brigade.
Those in control are too scared to be labelled by whatever 'crime' has been broken and take the easy way out.

Curb is so good I'd put it in the top 3 of all comedies, US or British.

BTW, is that right about the PC idiots hacking out scenes in OFAH ?

Thats terrifying if they can get away with desecrating one of the Uk's most loved and iconic shows Cry

Thats a move straight out of the same playbook as tearing down historic statues and monuments.
