Jesus!
Was thinking it might be that tragically unfunny one who was on that footy comedy thing about 20 years ago. Really struggling otherwise. Right wing politics and comedy, particularly anti-establishment comedy, is not a natural mix. |

Andrew Lawrence, he fired up a social media lynch mob. You'll probably remember him, used to be on TV regularly, had a fairly high nasal voice:
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/bbc/12057110/BBC-urged-to-ban-right-wing-comedian-Andrew-Lawrence.html https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andrew_Lawrence_(comedian) You've not seen him for years, there's why. Frankie the remoaner Corbyn fan Boyle can deliberately insult anyone he likes, he just gets his own series. |
|
By:
Actually this is pretty good :)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0qEpy8doW70 You'll recognise the voice if you watched BBC comedy before he was blackballed. |
|
By:
i thought he went to sky, he did do stuff for bbc after that ...?

I was listening to radio4 yesterday whilst at work and they had a tory comedian on, i was in shock and he was pretty funny.

That'd better not be Boris giving his latest Brexit policy? :)
|
|
By:
Lordy, had to google him.
So he criticised several panel shows and got into subsequent arguments with people from them. Should the producers of bbc programmes be obliged to invite him on solely because he's right wing and they should overlook the fact he's a bellend who slagged them all off? Don't know about you but if I call my potential clients names i can expect to lose that deal. Not a conspiracy, just normal. |
|
By:
All I know is he used to regularly be on TV, like mock the week or whatever, live at the apollo, and so on, and I've not seen him since that media mob went after him.
In fact looking at this, after 5 successive years of appearing on the Edinburgh Comedy fest show: https://www.imdb.com/name/nm1831419/ You'd think he died or given up in 2015. I wonder what happened then? |

|
By:
Yes exactly - he's still around doing shows, but the BBC won't touch him as he's outed himself as perhaps being a bit right wing. Frankie Boyle can make jokes about disabled children and makes constant offensive and ignorant comments, gets multiple series given to him.
|
|
By:
maybe if lawrence had been more famous he wouldnt have had to create his right wing persona whilst
telling us he wasnt right wing still he can do gigs and folk can pay to see him katie hopkins doesnt even mean to be funny and she seems to make plenty |
|
By:
I'm surprised Boyle wasn't ditched completely after his sketch shows bombed badly.
He did some referendum stuff but that was poor as well. Controversy seems his only talent now. Personally I'd have banned him sine die for his comments about KPs son. This current stuff was funny in parts but I think the main guests apart from the Canadian comic were poor. Decent format but would prefer another host. |
|
By:
Boyle has done some really good stuff over the years, been to a few of his shows and he is great value - I think he got sick of telling no bheads in the front row to phuck off so has developed a more sophisticated approach
Lawrence was average at best - he wanted to be seen as a martyr for the right wing, but he wasnt on telly cos he wasnt very good |

Point stands however though : We have quite a number of "comedy" shows where overtly political preachy people slag off and insult the majority of the country, and there is not a single one or even notable comedian that's even slightly the other way. I had high hopes for the Daily Mash and it's awful. The Last Leg is one big long unwatchable very left wing remoaner sermon. Lefties don't need to go to church, they can watch that and have all their beliefs confirmed. There's this. 8 out of 10 cats as I remember after Corbyn lost (or was it Brexit, one of the two!) was one long tantrum, I switched it off, and I normally like it. (8 out of 10 does countdown is fantastic though, always watch it, Lock, Carr, Richardson are all extremely good comedians).
|
|
By:
A lot of comedians on the Beeb are "not very good" , but if they stick to the basic rules, they can still get TV work.
|
|
By:
I thought the last series of Daily Mash was actually really good. First one was a bit hit and miss but seemed to find its legs then. Just don't find the Last Leg funny at all so avoid it.
Fact is, comedy has always been left wing. Just a simple unavoidable fact. You're going to struggle to make jokes where immigrants, the poor etc are the butt of the joke. Seriously. If someone could pull that off - and if that person was not a member of said group - then he'd be doing very well indeed. I think the second truth is that a lot of right wingers are just so humourless. Seriously. Just spend some time here or on twitter and see. I think that's part of the whole gammon thing. So many are just a certain type of guy who are just angry at everything but don't have the slightest bit of wit about them. There's no sarcasm, no irony. Just frothing. Not all I'll grant you, but enough that it's a bit of a theme. |
|
By:
To be fair, sir, that post does display a certain flair for ironic humour.

The tedious guardian woman who was on this last week is now making up the BBC quotas on the remoaner-fest that is HIGNFY.
And just accused the royals of being racist. It just never stops being funny does it... |

Are you watching Frankie Boyle again JC or giving the crap a miss?
|
|
By:
I wondered who she was, i tried watching for mins and had to switch over.

By:
I'm looking at what else is on. I'll admit it, I'm one of those sad c/ts who likes to watch things just to get angry at them

There is so much better comedy. Even this new US superstore series getting a huge stacked run on ITV2 is ok.
Even better now Kelly Stables has joined it ![]() |

Andrew Lawrence was the comic who got hounded by the PC mob and is now banned from TV.
The majority of comedians are too scared to voice any opinions that don't fit in with the luvvy groupthink, and the few that do, see a sudden drop in bookings. (Lee Hurst is a good example - used to be on every panel show, not now tho since he refused to toe the party line). |
|
By:
Lawrence and Hurst are both almost as funny as a burning Grenfell effigy.
|
|
By:
Lee Hurst wasn't good on "They think it's all over".
I've only seen Andrew Lawrence. I didn't laugh. He'd have made 1/10 on my list of comedians. |
|
By:
Indeed mikael. I've had funnier sh!he than Hurst while the other guy decided to slag off everyone leading panel shows.
If that makes a conspiracy nowadays then standards are slipping. |
|
By:
I didn't say they were funny
Funny isn't required to be a comedian, ask Lenny Henry ![]() |
|
By:
Agree Platini, if your a raging hypocritical leftie, then you get a gig, Being funny doesn't tick any boxes
|
|
By:
Panel and comedy shows are now full of unfunny people who are there on a gender/diversity tick box. Bit unfair to single out about the only 2 right of centre comedians named and say they are crap. In your opinion. Strangely an obvious huge discrepency in ballancing things up, showing a non left wing comedian, don't appear to have a tick box at the BBC/C4.
Russell Howard used to have a show on BBC3 that slowly moved from funny clips to him disappearing up his own ar*e and having very one sided biased unfair if not incorrect righteous leftie rants, but he disappeared I'd presumed just iPlayer. Well in todays Metro the oh so righteous c)ckwomble has a piece, he's got a show on Sky. In his piece he tals about taking on: Trump, May, Boris, Reese Mogg. Then the advert for his show talks about him taking on Trump and Brexit. What a ****ing surpsise. Well how ****ing ground breaking that is. Trump and Brexit rants from a leftie "comedian". Hold the press. How about a big biased angry rant about the fact the opposition are a pair of marxist scumbags and the shadow chancellor says his goal in life is to bring down Capitalism? When oh when will that happen? *tumbleweed*. |
