Seemingly, fashion designers steal ideas from them.

Sold a Hardy Salmon Fishing Reel for my dad. He said it was rare and might make £100. From memory 48 bids and went for nearly £500. He has several others, some "better" but says they are for the grandchildren.

A Michael McIntyre DVD.
I think I got as much as 75p for it but ended up out of pocket as posrage was free. |

The mistake I made was typing in my description, "serious bidders only, please".
I think I put off the bidders with a sense of humour. |

casemoney - correct! what is weird, or perhaps not weird, is that that the rank order of value seems to be salmon, trout, course and sea reels in that order. He has a huge 6" Hardy alloy sea reel that he used to beach casting with
. It is lovely and is going nowhere, even though it is "low" value. |

If you sell a collectable item and two collectors want it to complete there collection, it's great fun watching the p rice go up and up!

Blackbarn do you collect the Ogden cigarette cards? Some nice sets on Ebay, including famous owners colours.
By:
Yes I have several sets of Ogdens and also sets by other manufacturers
By:
Are they originals or reprints? Hope you don't mind me asking. I have a good collection of baseball cards. Big money can be made on them if you get the right one. The very old ones.

A shop near me had 2 tubs of a pet product that they were selling for £1 each. They looked too good for a quid so I had a look online and found the brand website retails them for £37 each. I went back, bought the lot (144 items) and am currently selling them for £25 each.

Hey TMM, I collect baseball cards too, albeit only Milwaukee Brewers. I do have plenty of non-Brewers but they are all for sale, and have a few Topps factory sets, which aren't. Are yours mainly vintage? If so, do you sell them on ebay? In my experience ebayUK is a terrible place to be selling, although I've had some great deals buying - once bought a box of 70s stuff for a tenner and it contained multiple cards that paid for the box by themselves. I still have two Pete Maravich RCs from it, just waiting to ship them off to the US when I can be arsed.

Hi Mikael, I like the vintage cards featuring the great players, but I have lots of modern ones mostly Topps. I did sell all the doublers I had on Ebay USA as a job lot. I remember conversing with a poster on the Baseball forum many years ago who was a Brewers fan and actually came from Milwaukee.
Was Maravich not a Basketball player? Barry Bonds signed and sent me a limited edition card celebrating his record breaking 762 Home Runs! Pity about the bad press which may have decreased it`s value. |
By:
Pistol Pete Maravich was indeed a basketball player.
By:
I have some old Bowman cards but they are special
By:
Thanks joel

By:
I have some basketball cards from the early 90's but will most likely throw them out as they are not worth much at all.
By:
Where do these cards come from Mac.
I have a couple of collections (bought framed) of old cigarette cards. Were yours cigarette cards as well? |
By:
Yeah, Maravich played hoops. Came in a box with bundles of stars - Lew Alcindor (Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to me and you,) Nolan Ryan, Thurman Munson, even OJ Simpson. Sold all bar the basketball cards since they're the 'tallboy' size and I had no way to protect them.
I still buy Bonds now, bought two this morning in fact. Values have indeed plummeted but they're recovering. (You sure the Brewers fan wasn't me? My wife is from Milwaukee...) |

I listed an old Freemans catalogue 1970s thinking I might get a fiver for it. It sold for £190
I can understand why this sold for such a price. Many a bloke who was a teenager in the 1970's will have fond memories of the ladies underwear section in the Freemans catalogue ![]() |
By:
Most cards from the mid-80s to mid-90s are practically worthless, due to the extreme overproduction. If you have a Michael Jordan rookie or some Precious Metal Gems, you're rich though!
By:
Aka, I have some old Baseball cigarette cards, but mostly collectors cards which are a bit bigger.
They are highly collectable. Honus Wagner's 1909-11 T206 card sold for over 3 million dollars. Old cards can get over one millions dollars like Topps Micky Mantle card. The framed cards you have aka, are they Baseball? They could be worth a right few quid depending what they are |
By:
A 52 Mantle recently sold recently for $2.88M.

Did I mention it was recently?

For a laugh..i advertised on e bay for sale ..A BAG OF WIND..5 bidders wanted it . in total 35 bids were placed..went to 27 pounds..caused an awful stink when I explained it was a hoax

By:
Mikael, I would have remembered if it had been you (unless you had another nom de plume). It may have been sparkmaster who sadly is no longer with us.
By:
Sparky was indeed born in Milwaukee but had very limited interest in the Brewers, and even less in baseball, though he was a big fan of Green Bay of course.
My other name was Easter1916. If there has been another Brewers fan on here, apart from honorary fans Tommy Toes and Fishy, I would've been all over them! (Not to say there isn't/wasn't, just not sure how I woulda missed them.) |
By:
Anyone sold horse racing memorabilia? Got a hoard that i could do with getting rid of.
By:
Geoff - Not much money to be had with racing books or dvds, but old vintage memorabilia can fetch good money with a little luck.
By:
A lot tougher now to make money selling on ebay.
Much more competition with sellers cutting margins to the bone. Buyers have wised-up and have less money to spend. Sellers catch on very quickly - if you have found something that sells well, someone else will follow. Items going "missing" in the post. Ebay imposing onerous rules on sellers. |
