When: 22 Mar 18 14:21
the car slid down the slipway and was swept out to sea
the rescuer desperatedly tried to save the life of another young boy but his foot caught just seconds before the car went under

don't understand why he didn't leave the car in gear when he parked it. I always do that when I leave mine on a slope, stops it rolling.

just in case there's a problem with the handbrake.

I read there is/was an electric/electronic handbrake in the car. Now I don't have much experience with these, but is it possible the little
girl could have somehow activated it?... even with the ignition off and/or the key being out of the car?
Whichever way you look at it, such a tragic way for the little 'un to go.

As mentioned earlier some ( or most ) of these ( outdoor ) adventure types love danger whether they admit it or not. It's part of their psyche and therefore are not safety minded like most of us.

this is not the sort of thing that happens to adventurous outdoor types, who can be quite methodical
its the sort of thing that happens to muddled average people when terrible circumstances come together

They got in the car to go home.
Sat on bank card which snapped and needed money to get home etc.
Went back to the office to get money from the desk and came back to no car.
looked in the river No signs. So we thought she and the car had been taken.
The police found the car a while later and went way beyond the call of duty jumping in and pulling her out. They tried to revive her for hours but unfortunately could not.
Everyone done their best.

Why did both parents have to go back to he office simply to get money from a desk, leaving a 2 year old child alone in the car ?

They both had to be in the car for them both to get out.

It is strange that one of the parents didn't stay in the car

but this is the sort of terrible stupid thing that can happen, if something had been planned to happen they wouldn't have done or said that
maybe they planned to go quickly into a shop as well and spotted the car missing

From what i read it was not clear they were both with the child . Is this stated somewhere?

It seemed the mum was with her, and then 'went back to the office' and the dad was elsewhere.

https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/5899808/kiara-moore-death-car-river-dad-sea-turtle-tattoo/

The tattoo on his arm is of her full name Kiara Aurora Maddison and her nickname ‘’Ra Ra’’, which Mr Moore has said was what his daughter always asked to be called.

He has also had a sea turtle inked next to her name to “send her on a safe journey”.

Writing on Facebook, the he said: "Myself, Kim and family would like to invite you all to either the funeral and party for her happy life and birthday! (or just have a thought for her on this day and make someone happy).

"Please bring kids if you can! (we are keeping it a happy celebration)."

He said that the dress code would be "bright and beautiful and or fun only".

(WTF?????)

The family also revealed that they wanted to set up a trust to support mental health, asking for anyone attending the funeral to make a donation.

Is this relevant in some way??

If I had lost a 3 year old child in such horrific circumstances, I would still be under sedation.

Child (kiara )was a week from her 3rd birthday ,mother not the most experienced person at 25 ,did not understand car had floated away and parcially submerged some distance away ,thinks it's been stolen along with child strapped in back and they hit social media for help finding it ,it's not hard to imagine the scenario .The  buisiness and private life prob merged on FB and they had a lot of local contacts including lots of other families with young ones ,the police find car ,child still strapped in back but sadly quite some time had elapsed and child dies of hypothermia possibly ,she was alive when removed from submerged vehicle apparently  ,just had her first real Christmas and now instead of a 3 years old birthday party it's her funeral ,easy to see why it's a celebration of her life but unless you have experienced that kind of loss prob better to say nothing ,there is no right or wrong way to handle this type of loss ,just deal with it best you can . Some pretty nasty stuff on here ,poor show lads.

My thoughts on grieving on social media...

There are some people on this thread who don't use FB and deal with grief in their own little way....but now are under pressure or obliged to put a tick, like or a 'silly crying emoji face' on a picture of a bunch of flowers or in some cases a cartoon of a crying rabbit.

For me that doesn't show the integrity or dignity for one to share empathy or grief at a tragic event, but hey that's just me.....It seems now days we are told how to be sympathetic and rarely allowed to show it in our own subtle way.

Call me Mr harsh but....I never signed up for this 'We are the world' singing around the campfire bullsh1t. Never have and never will.
