I've seen that, at least they aren't all Islamic. So, better than Sweden but why the rush to replace your own? I simply don't understand it.

I'd love to move to Ireland but fear that the citizenship test would be too hard. I'm normally sick after 6 pints.Mischief

''It is like watching a nation busily engaged in heaping up its own funeral pyre.''

Who said that?

One less place to go I suppose
I wonder how the Protestants and Catholics will view this? Laugh

Madness from the Irish.
An EU exit movement gathering support and IRE XIT posters appearing all over the Republic.
Report Torquemada March 13, 2018 12:55 AM GMT
You're not wrong, Aka. I'm a Scouse Paddy and we still have lots of family in Cork. I firmly believe that Ireland would vote OUT if given the chance tomorrow - don't believe what MSM might tell you this or that poll says, millions are fed up with the corrupt EU.
Report kincsem March 13, 2018 2:34 AM GMT
Ireland would not vote to leave the EU.
Report lfc1971 March 13, 2018 7:45 AM GMT
That's what they said about Britain, but then Ireland doesn't have to bear the responsibilities and burdens that Britain has to. So maybe its a different thing
Report jumper3 March 13, 2018 9:08 AM GMT
Agree with lfc on this. While there are so many cultural similarities between GB and Ire, as there is between the Welsh and the Scottish and the Scottish and the English, Kincsem is also right - at the moment. I would say 70% remain, 30% exit. I do think those numbers will get closer over the course of the next 5/10 years. Increased immigration will fuel tensions. Again, replicating what we see across GB at the moment. IRE has had immigration over the course of the large 20 years but it is small compared to the rest of Europe. With new arrivals of child bearing age, and the indigenous population only have 1 to 2 kids, that will show a swing towards the new groups.
Report Dr Crippen March 13, 2018 10:24 AM GMT
Ireland would vote for who they're told to for like the rest of the working class sheep throughout the EU.
Few can see any further than the personality of the one whose telling them what to do.

Brexit was only voted for in the UK because Farage has a stronger personality than the rest of the EU career servants put together.

Hard to see how mass immigration can work in a religious country like Ireland.
If dumping millions of religious fantasists into the same territories as other religious fantasists works out for the best it'll be the only place it ever has, let's face it Ireland still struggles with their own religions and there's only 2 of them to fight over.
Report lfc1971 March 14, 2018 7:14 AM GMT
Ireland does not, unlike England, have 2 religions it has one. Christianity
That is why provided Irelands leaders are not as stupid as Britain, and they probably are,
no matter how bad things might be nothing fundamentally or critically bad can happen overall, because the unionists and republicans are basically the same people who share the same values and who believe in the same things and way of life
England however is quite another matter
Report DenzilPenberthy March 14, 2018 11:18 AM GMT
You're right 1 religion

Yep Paisley and the Pope were often mistaken for each other.
Report lfc1971 March 14, 2018 11:47 AM GMT
There is no difference in anything important between the catholics and protestants of Ireland, they are exactly the same and want to live in exactly the same country with exactly the same freedoms and culture and way of life generally
That may not be absolutely true but it is true nonetheless
Report trilby22 March 14, 2018 12:01 PM GMT
Catholics & Protestants both follow the ways of Jesus - supposed to anyway. We should celebrate what unites us, not what divides us. Ireland - like Britain - is a Christian country.  Simples.
Report DenzilPenberthy March 14, 2018 12:17 PM GMT
I am not religious as I find it impossible to lie to myself and everyone else
I was raised as a Catholic and was an altar boy at one point and was told that people who went to the protestant school and didn't go to church were heathensGrin
Religion is all about control and is probably necessary for order despite all of the troubles directly caused by religion
It's hard not to think people in the Western World who are religious are dishonest but I accept that a belief in something greater can get people through hard times in their life.

Looking back at school (Catholic) you were being fed things like Noah's Ark and The Feeding of the 5000 as true events and an hour later you were learning the planets (nothing on The Big Bang though)Grin

Christianity is the most humane form of control unlike Sharia which is inhumane and abusive to females

There was a minor incident some time ago where someone threw some disinfectant at Paisley. The perp was charged with "Bleach of the Priest"!
Report jed.davison March 14, 2018 1:01 PM GMT
Being the leader of a sect you founded yourself does not make you a priest, so the chap probably got off on a technicality.

Oh the irony !                                                                                                                                                                Protestants split from  Catholism because of Romes abuse of Christianity.                                                                                  And Peter never set foot in Rome ,the RC faith is built on a lie .
