Piers Morgan tears into 'flaming cheat' Sir Bradley Wiggins as he calls for him to be stripped of his knighthood after MPs concluded the British cyclist took steroids to boost his performance
Ministers said that Sir Bradley Wiggins used drugs to enhance his performance
They rejected claims the British cyclist used triamcinolone to treat his asthma
Piers Morgan was furious today and branded Sir Bradley, 37, a 'flaming cheat'
He told the five-time gold medalist he should 'sue him' if he didn't like comments

Presenter Piers Morgan today branded Sir Bradley Wiggins a 'flaming cheat' after MPs concluded the British cyclist used drugs to enhance his performance.

The journalist said the Tour de France winner should be stripped of his knighthood and added he should 'sue him' if he took exception to his comments.

Piers was speaking after MPs rejected claims Sir Bradley, 37, took triamcinolone before the Tour to treat his asthma.

They found it was being used within anti-doping regulations but to prepare the Team Sky cyclist and to improve his power-to-weight ratio before the gruelling event.

Sir Bradley Wiggins celebrated winning a stage during the 2012 Tour de France    +6
He was given his knighthood award in 2013    +6
MPs concluded that Sir Bradley Wiggins (left, riding in the Tour de France in 2012 and right, holding his knighthood award in 2013) used drugs to boost his performance

But Piers, 52, slammed the five-time Olympic gold medalist on Good Morning Britain and accused him deliberately cheating.

He said: 'Sir Bradley Wiggins is a flaming cheat. And if he doesn't like that phrase, come and sue me.'

The shaming of Sir Bradley Wiggins: MPs conclude that...

Piers also said he used the drugs to improve his performance and that he has now been 'exposed' as 'unethical'.

He added: 'Sir Bradley Wiggins a knight of the realm, knighted for his services to cycling.

'A man who is exposed today as 'unethical' is the polite way of putting it.

'MPs have reported that he probably took a substantially strong steroid, and it wasn't for health reasons, this asthma that nobody knew about, he didn't even tell his teammates about. It was for performance enhancement to help him win.'

Ministers on the digital, culture, media and sport committee concluded: 'The purpose of this was not to treat medical need, but to improve his power-to-weight ratio ahead of the race.'

Not sure what MPs would know about it but I shall be happy if it means the end of the BBC lauding cycling as if it is a sport anyone cares about outside of the Olympics and when a Brit wins the Tour de France.

Every athlete that has taken EPO and Testosterone claim that the Asthma medications are on a different level to both.
British Cycling and Team Sky have been dishing out TUE's (Theraputic Use Exemptions) to everyone possible which explains the successes they have had,all the bolox about marginal gains are meaningless it's the doctors who are the important people here.
The REALITY is that without PED's it is IMPOSSIBLE to compete because EVERYONE who is an ELITE ATHLETE or aspires to be is 100% on a PED of one kind or another.
What Team Sky and British Cycling have done is gone the TUE route because it's more socially acceptable than pushing a Blood Doping and Steroid programme when in reality the Asthma gear is betterGrin

The more that comes out into the open the better everyone should stop living in a fairytale world about sport anyone who is anyone at it and have been for 70 years, the records are meaningless and the only drug cheats that have been caught are idiots or scapegoats for their Federations.

sky don't like the result of the vote in the Italian election   - just described it as 'a mess'  - maybe they are upset at the cycling team accusations.

Good old Mee is trying to defend the cycling team as I type  and interrupting. (four times at least)

How interesting. She says people say things and they are then taken as FACT - that has never stopped Sky twisting the news to suit an agenda - how ironic.

Of course sky news is never biased.

Anyone with any knowledge whatsoever of the realities of sport KNOWS that EVERYONE who is ANYONE is NOT CLEAN or else they would be a middle of the road nobody.
Our greatest achievers in my lifetime have all been on the gear in one way or another and the M.O is the same as everyone else deny deny deny.
Just because we are British we are seen to be above suspicion and we use this with the TUE and Asthma excuse.
Look at Paula Radcliffe her Marathon times still beat all of the known dopers (especially those from 3rd world countries who run for their villages to survive) out of sight yet Radcliffe is clean and protests her innocenceLaughLaugh.
No mention of the massive benefits of the Asthma meds as apparently they have no benefit to anyone without Asthma,if that was the case they wouldn't be banned ffs LaughLaugh

Totally agree with Piers Morgan. In his book Wiggins does not mention once about any problem with asthma. Yet before every big cycling race he needed this drug to treat his asthma. F---ing drug cheat ! Technically he abused the law without actually breaking the rules, but still a flaming cheat, he used the drug to improve his performance !

Roger is talking bolox from start to finish hiding behind the glory days
Just because Black never had a positive doesn't mean he wasn't on the anything. They hide behind the 'never failed a drugs test' Lance Armstrong and Marion Jones never failed a test as well as the rest of the dopers as the tests aren't fit for purpose.
They don't want to catch anyone due to MONEY and when they do the Federation in question is informed THEN dealt with, some disappear and some are made scapegoats and allowed to stand that's how it is.

As I've mentioned before British athletes use the TUE's as an ACCEPTABLE FORM OF CHEATING staying within the rules but taking very potent gear that is banned for a good reason THEY ARE PERFORMANCE ENHANCING AND WORK Grin

Ms Mee is not very bright and a hopeless interviewer in any circumstances so I wouldn't read too much into her performance.

Plenty of stuff on Youtube from David Millar who was a top cyclist and doper who's taken EPO,Testosterone and the meds that British Cyclists and Uk athletes/swimmers etc are on (legally) according to him they are different gravy.
There was a BBC video which had Millar and Brailsford on where Brailsford claimed he didn't know what EPO was in 2003/2004? these people are very comfortable with tellings lies Laugh

Much ado about nothing.
He hasn't acted illegally so why are people talking about stripping him of his titles.
BTW a bunch of MPs concluded that he used the system. Debate should have ended at a bunch of MPs concluded.

Some interesting vids about the realities of sport and the Paula Radcliffe stuff is relevant to Wiggins as she was on Asthma meds which is our way of beating the system to have any chance of competing at all and pretend to everyone us British aren't dopers Laugh

Denzil, I think you're right.

A few years ago (late 80's), in the course of my work, I had several meetings in the house of a top British female discus thrower or shot putter, I can't remember which.
She was telling me that ALL top athletes were on something or other, because of they didn't they would have no chance of winning.

She went on to name a couple of names we all know and some of their nicknames... "Miss steroid", "the fixer", and others.

Cycling has always been a drug riddled sport - remember Tommy Simpson in 1967, he was known to be on performance enhancing drugs, but it wasn't against the rules back then. Lance Armstrong?
Then there's Weightlifting, most athletics events (East Germany in the 70's and 80's), swimming (Chinese amazing performances for a couple of years only), a lot of state sponsored drugs in sport, particularly from eastern Europe.
So many sprinters - Ben Johnson, Linford Christie (he didn't go on about "drug cheats should be banned" much, did he?), Tyson Gay, Justin Gatlin....

This list is JUST athletics cheats who've been banned. Many more haven't. It doesn't include other sports.

STUDYFORM you've heard it from the horses mouth there would be no reason for that lady to tell you that if it wasn't the case.
Everybody wants to believe that we British don't cheat but common sense should tell everyone otherwise.
Those that have been banned are scapegoats because the problems go way back in time and is out of control.
Everything we have seen since at least the 1952 Olympics (probably 1948 as well) are not clean results but nobody wants to accept or address this because too much money and too many reputations and lives will be in jeopardy.

Exercise Induced Asthma

"“It depends which respiratory consultant you talk to on whether you put these athletes on a spectrum of asthma, or whether you think that’s purely down to them exercising really hard in a certain environment, and if you take them out of that environment they’re fine. It’s a grey zone. But my argument is it’s a form of asthma.”

This is  "John Dickinson from Kent university, a world expert on asthma in sport, who has tested all 33 UK-based swimmers from the British Swimming squad found 70% have some form of asthma."

So even somebody that is a 'world expert' concedes that it's a grey zone. Go to the 'right' doctor, who would say you 'have asthma' then gives what are performance enhancing drugs. But we're not Russians so it's ok.

Yes Injera that's true but the performance enhancing effects of the particular drugs used remain the same. She technically is using something that will enhance her performance albeit legally under Theraputic Use Exemption and from anecdotal evidence are better than an EPO and Testosterone stack for endurance athletes.
