The amount of Serial Kilers in the Country, people Need to be Armed ...

^ how  would a gun save you from a serial killer.
this was a 19 year old with a grudge who had access to as many guns as he wanted.
This is Trump's chance to be somebody but he has already gone down the mental health route
forgetting that they blocked the checks that would stop such people having guns. It's just tragic
on so many levels

A 19 year old with mental health issues owns an assault rifle and that's perfectly acceptable, Jesus wept. All those poor innocents slaughtered, absolutely heartbreaking.

What has changed in the last couple of decades ?, it is the overwhelming culture of violence in video games and films and in particular the greatest force for evil, the internet
Countries are going to have to look at banning these things and to have strict censorship of the internet

I use a forum on a US trading cards website. Got into a debate earlier and I said something along the lines of 'I'm fairly certain my girls will come home from school today unharmed.' Some Yank has replied that he is similarly confident that his kids will come home safely too. To support his argument? "There have been less than 300 school shootings since 2013."

The mind boggles.

Ban guns ??????????
When I lived in Las Vegas a gang member shot a policewoman in the throat, now if guns were banned would he hand his weapon in because it was illegal to own one and he wouldn't want to get in trouble. FFS he's already shooting old bill. Sadly if I ever go back to live I will own a gun again to give me half a chance

very few people want to ban guns in the US. What they want is background checks on owners & certain types
of weapons (assault weapons, clue is in the name) restricted and in some cases banned. These are weapons
of war, no need to own one as a civilian.

Big companies and money run the usa, they should be able to stop something as bad as the gun rule no matter the payments to the elect.

The amendment jargon is just crap to make people rich, change it ffs.

Said before and I'll say again when the constitution was written weapons were single shot. If they were the same today it wouldn't stop the nutters but it would help reduce the large numbers of fatalities

Maybe the mass shootings are not enough in terms of number of deaths, ie; in this case only 17 - what if two or three nutters got together and killed about a thousand people. Would they change the gun laws then. Probably not.
I've been to the states but I wont be going back. Found the place intimidating from the moment I got off the plane. Just getting through customs was enough to put you off.

Had a run-in with the tnucs at Newark airport last year. Was genuinely concerned they'd put me on a flight back here or would've carried on. All because of one ignorant cow who hadn't been doing her job properly in the first place. Half expected her to say I'd used a racial slur against her. Would've shot her in the face had I been able to get to a Walgreens!

As crystal says, they're completely humourless.

Should add that I wasn't trying to humour them. Learned that lesson a long time ago. Now I'm usually 'yes sir, no ma'am, three bags full' etc.

^^ they do seem to make a point of being rude and aggressive. At Houston they took my 8 year old son aside,
which was fair enough, they wanted to check i wasn't taking him away from his mum without her knowing, but
they barked at him to the point he went mute.
They then pulled me over and said he was clearly traumatised,
obviously i said "yeah by you, try being nice" reply was a threatening "are you telling me how to do my job"
i thought f**k it & said "well clearly nobody else ever did."
Big mistake, once they went through all our papers etc we got out of there 2 hours later.
Not my only run in with USCIS (as they now call themselves) either.
Americans are normally so polite too

Mikaeel D'Haguenet, I went to Vegas with my brother, they kept him in for questioning for three hours at McCarran airport because he had some Golden Virginia tobacco and a couple of packets of Rizla on him. They were way beyond obnoxious to put it mildly. I have absolutely no desire to visit America ever again personally.

Was first time I've ever been through Newark, not that they're any better in other airports. My wife's friend works in Milwaukee airport and she'll support your 'never use Newark' campaign xmoney.

Will say that the US immigration people in Dublin airport are completely different. Guess the Irish have rubbed off on them.

Do USCIS do immigration in Dublin? Didn't know that. I spent a couple of years in the Bahamas and US immigration
was in Nassau before you left. Obviously that is a lot closer tho

treat them with respect as you would when visiting any other country and you wont have any problems
I worked there , industry and factory work, and after a couple of weeks I felt  that something was different and couldn't quite put my finger on what it was, and then I suddenly realised what it was
The people were nicer, nicer than the British and the Irish indeed

Other countries worldwide have mental health issues comparable with the USA but don't have these incidents due to stricter gun laws. The Florida gunman was able to legally purchase an AR-15 at 18 yrs of age but would have to wait another three to legally purchase a beer. Only in America.

The gun laws are madness in the modern world simply because there is such an epidemic, throughout the world, of mental illness

Remember once there were payoffs in the place I was working and an older American man(some of the men, and one woman were into their 70s and still working)
came to me as he was leaving, very crestfallen, and said
"they've terminated me John"
