If I practised positive discrimination like in the example I gave earlier, by advertising a 25% discount to people who were white, they'd send the riot squad around to arrest me.
So what's the difference between that and what Labour have done here? |
|
By:
Surely the only ones who should be concerned would be white Labour members who want to attend the rally.
And the Police of course, because racial discrimination is illegal. |
|
By:
You will get no reasoned argument Dr C .Contrition amongst the left leaning characters on this forum is sadly absent.
|
|
By:
I consider myself left leaning but not sure if this is the right thread or right forum - Politics is more appropriate. I agree what they did was wrong.
|
|
By:
Oh dear oh dear.
Does this really need to be spelt out ? I'll make it simple :- People pay membership to BAME labour & its this organisation choosing to subsidise tickets for their members ...NOT the Labour party . Get it ??! |
|
By:
I thought skweeming waycyst was the preserve of the loony part of the party? However, if this had been ukip or a tory event you lot would have been all over it

I find this thread too male, pale and stale.

I thought skweeming waycyst was the preserve of the loony part of the party? However, if this had been ukip or a tory event you lot would have been all over it Indeed, people complaining about a ploy most of them use on a daily basis. They don't like it up em. |
|
By:
Facts Fake News. BAME is a legitimate membership. Functions always offer discounts to certain factions of Society. Shall we claim organisations are ' ageist ' when they reduce prices for ' under 18's ' or ' over 60's' A nothing news story from the Daily Fail. Must be desperate . Haven't read full thread so apologies if point already made. Reason for those discount Facts is that generally people in those brackets will be low earners whilst in this instance .......... well you tell us. Facts at his best and supporting racism against white people. |
|
By:
STUDYFORM is a laugh.
He's racist blind when Labour behave in a racist way. ''positively discriminatory events are not illegal.'' Yet first in the queue to call anyone else a racist if they display the merest hint of discrimination towards his own pet group. Eh STUDY? |
|
By:
Tell me when crappin, I have EVER called anyone a racist.
I haven't. Not ever. I also said I don't agree with positive discrimination, but feel free to take stuff out of context to prove your nonsensical point if you want. Oh, you have! Still if it helps you suck up to your sad loser mate on youtube. Eh CRIPPEN? What pet group, btw? I don't have a pet group, I just like pulling you up on your ridiculousness. Akabula, if you can't understand a reasonably simple sentence and just feel like a little argue, that's your problem. I'm not playing, I'm off to bed - with you it's like an old record with a scratch. |

This is the 1st of my posts on this thread which was removed
Like you, Charlie, I think most sensible people of every political persuasion can see how useless and divisive positive discrimination is. But, if you read this thread..... ......every part of Labour and all their supporters and anyone leaning towards Labour, is racist and "positively discriminatory". Crippen in clover here and all the other regulars in tow. Even if the Mail had a point - which it doesn't - why would this news bother you? Surely the only ones who should be concerned would be white Labour members who want to attend the rally. The big outpouring of indignation could be saved for something vaguely important, couldn't it? Some of you need to take a long hard look at yourselves and do something else. Really. |
|
By:
I can only imagine the sort of people who are getting these posts taken down and am at a complete loss to understand the workings of moderators who obey the report requests.
Can anyone see anything which infringes any rules in the above post? TO BETFAIR FORUM : WHY DID YOU REMOVE THE ABOVE POST? |
|
By:
some people don't seem to care if the Labour Party break the law and are racist ,
that's not good . |
|
By:
Yes lfc, racism to them only works one way.
A joke cracked in a pub with race as its theme coming from a white person, is tantamount to condoning the holocaust in their eyes. Yet in a clear case like we have here, of the Labour party discriminating in favour of black people over white people, which is pure racism. Then they think the rules don't apply. |
|
By:
Why was it done ? , I think it was done to create an illusion
well that's dishonest and in a way this is why the Labour Party and many of its members cannot be trusted |
|
By:
Let's se if anyone is prosecuted for breaking the law or sacked from the Labour Party
|
|
By:
They will be determined to continue with these very same racist policies in housing and jobs etc if they should ever get into power ,
remember that next time there is an election |
|
By:
That's already evident now lfc with certain groups being pushed to the front of the queues.
Like jobs at the BBC, and housing with certain councils if the reports are to be believed. |
|
By:
They absolutely stink with hypocrisy.

By:
Let's try again shall we ?
For those that can read ...... BAME made the decision to offer the reduction in entrance price to their members. Not the Labour Party Geddit now ???!! |
|
By:
Then is BAME racist for not having any white members?
|
|
By:
FACTS - that doesn't appear to be the case. According to this the NEC are subsidising:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-42783246 The Labour Party said subsidised passes for the event, in Loughborough, were being paid for from the national executive committee's Democracy and Diversity fund. A regional Labour Party spokesman said: "The basic price of a conference pass is the same for all members but, at the request of our East Midlands Regional Board, the party will subsidise part of the cost of this year's conference pass for BAME members to encourage attendance and improve representation." |
|
By:
party members like Facts will just not accept the things wrong inside our party
|
|
By:
Facts will surely now have to resign from the Labour Party, given the disgraceful and tawdry revelations of the last few days.
He can't possibly want to be associated with discrimination. |
|
By:
Unless it's positive discrimination which apparently isn't discrimanatory at all.
|
|
By:
The real problem is Labour leadership and their cronies are full of the guardianista liberals who usually have very well paid public sector positions and believe everyone else is as well off as them, and if they are white and can afford the extra tenner without a care. They are out of touch with the working class and most of them wouldn't recognise one if they met one.
|
|
By:
I agree treetop,
The modern Labour Party has been described as the Notting Hill dinner party set. They have little time for working class people. Everybody seems to know this except the working classes who vote for them. |

The current Government are as appalling as the Labour opposition. The only party who WERE in touch with the common man was UKIP.However UKIP are now dead in the water so where does that leave us?..I'll tell you where..up the old proverbial creek without a paddle.
|
|
By:
imo. The current govt is the worst I have ever seen, the PM is the weakest. UKIP were never a party able or equipped to govern, although they DID make a difference.
It might be reasonable to say the Labour opposition are as bad, but not until they've been proven to have been as bad. Which they haven't. So much time is spent justifying everything the Tories do with "well, Labour would be worse" or dredging up pointless little stories like the one on this thread, instead of rectifying faults, that many people believe it. The previous Labour govt is gone. It was 'New Labour' and was also appalling, but was finished nearly 8 years ago. Nothing has got better. If you look hard (not very) it is equally easy to find nonsense stories, among the big ones about the govt. as I say imo. |

if the tory lot had done it - or ukip - use lot would have been all over it along with the usual shrieking mob from the gruniad and lily allen
hope this helps |
|
By:
would it?
I reckon there would have been less outpouring of indignation from the usual shrieking mob on here though wouldn't there. Do you really think anyone takes any notice of Lily Allen. Not that your assertion is anything other than loose conjecture, like nearly everything on here. |
|
By:
as I said - if it had been ukip or tory - you lot would have been all over it along with the baying mob

Study @ 1840 spot on.
Is it fair to say we're in a bit of bovver? |

I don't have a 'lot' and no, I wouldn't (for one), moisok.
In fact, I think you'll find most stories like this on the forum tend to follow the same path as this one: -"Look at what Labour/Corbyn/other Labour MP have done, imagine the outcry if it had been the other way round" etc etc etc blah blah blah-7 My responses on here are to the stupid posts, not in defence of anything in the story. As for ukip, nothing they say will ever really gain any response from me. They are entirely insignificant. The only reason you hear anything from Ukip is because some hacks from the press hope to sell a story and follow them round. |
