Can I also remind readers that they should always beware the advice and motivations of those claiming they have spotted a lucrative betting opportunity.
We have, for example, a 'Remain' voter on this Forum who loftily informed us that any potential negative financial implications of Brexit wouldn't actually matter to him and his family. He savoured the opportunity to advise us that he and his family "will always be all right". The very same individual also started a thread just after the 2016 Brexit vote stating he hoped that Brexit would 'prompt a deep recession in England". Again, I have no wish to name and shame the individual concerned. Alas, he needs no help from me in arranging his own humiliation. |

Burt, stop wandering around dead museums in Brussells and consider what harm the EU has ever done to you? Certainly, I have been happy and free living my whole life under the EU, but anyone with a real grievance can post below. My feeling is that most people against the EU haven't really felt it impinge on their personal life, they're just parroting what the right-wing media have told them to be indignant about. Which is a bit sad.

Actually unless you keep your money in cash in the bank most people will have savings in ISAs or pensions funds, both generally tied to the FTSE which has been hitting record highs. Which is good for savers and good for pensions funds. Also the lower pound (which many considered overvalued) has helped exports and tourism.

It's a lot simpler than than that, Just Checking. It's like this: when you match a bet on this site, the value of your stake is 13% less than that of another playing in EUR or USD. In other words, you are now taking 5/6 on the toss of a coin. You are now their poor relation, Just Checking, in real life as on the exchange.

Gin - Sorry, some old thread on T&F re Apple and Menelaus I thought was yours.. Ah, I remember now – just had a look at the thread you mentioned. That was just an opinion and not one backed up by cash (ie shorting). I try my best to look out for cheaper assets (not easy in this environment) and have been invested elsewhere. It was a good call by you though – the Nasdaq is up 16% in those 8 months (although due to the rise in the pound vs USD since then, you can knock a few percent off). That compares well to 10% for the S&P. |

Au contraire, Platini, a strong currency makes all of us richer. While we need to be patient, I'm very optimistic that friendly forces within the country can come together and reverse Brexit. And the people will be rewarded with the biggest one-day rise of any major free-floating currency ever. Talk about a feel-good factor!
