every fourth year they add a month. comes out the same

it's been going 5,777 years... write in and tell them it's wrong.

It's one way of doing it I suppose.
It would be too much to suppose that the time of earth's orbit of the sun would be an exact multiple of the lunar cycle and they worked out a compensation measure at some point in time. In the same way that we add a leap day every fourth year to compensate for the inexact multiple of earth days in a year. The Catholic church still hasn't given us back our eleven days.

Fionavon - you can measure time any way you want to? In tens instead of 12?
Babylon had a big influence on the world.

Trilby22 - I have seen one of Robert Breakers videos last year.
Not sure I like the white board method, it ends up looking
like one of those conspiracy comedy sketches. All the numbers
and figures -
Conan o'brien did one like it ..https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yzEkAldWLtg

Robert Breaker got one semi wrong - it's ten months in the womb. November 17th to Sept 23rd.
but I looked up gestation periods in the womb and it can go a lot further. It's an average nine months.

A leap year occurs 7 times in the 19-year Metonic cycle. With years 3, 6, 8, 11, 14, 17, and 19 of the cycle being leap years, this corresponds to a frequency of every 2 to 3 years.

For whatever reason, they follow the moon for their months and sun for their years(unlike the islamic calendar which is always about 11 days shroter and has no leap year as far as i know).

The word month is derived from ancient words for moon.

Zoz, I see that Rosh Hashana 5777 was on Monday 3rd October 2016 and not 1st October.

year 5777 started oct 3rd.

if you are feeling up to it could you try and find out when the Ottoman empire captured
Palestine in 1516/1517? i came close to finding out, but only found a brief description in a pdf file?

I don't know, zorro, does it really matter? There are plenty of books on the Ottoman empire which incidentally lasted a lot longer than the British empire, but I don't have one so can't look it up for you.

On his death bed Voltaire was asked by a priest to renounce Satan.
He replied "Now is not the time to be making a new enemy"

the internet exists? I tried to look it up to see if they invaded on the Jubilee year 1517. the books all say 1517. But I wanted to narrow it down to the day? or month. As i've pointed out - the jewish religious year starts either in September or October?
So september? 1516 or Oct 1516 would be the start of the Jubilee year 1517. They held the land to 1917... 400 years exactly. As soon as they lost the land, the British sent a letter to Rothschild to say they'd make a Jewish state. 1917(a jubilee year)1967(jY)2017(jubilee Yr)

I found a book online - it says on the 28th of September 1516 they entered Damascus(syria) then spread out to Lebanon and Israel in the following months.(link Below).
So 1517 looks Right. Within the Jubilee year.
a Rabbi in 1217 said it would happen?
