Unfortunately anyone taking a radical viewpoint about Islam hasn't a chance. I can never understand how such a right wing group under Islam can be seen as good?  Given their record.  As a friend of mine says. People in this country are plain stupid.
Expect much more of this pro Islamic stuff.  You have to realise that it is not to be challenged and the vast majority have fallen for it.
We are far too nice people.

As for debate, I'm not interested in talking about the thug right now. Not shutting it down. You all carry on if you wish. I've read about him and read and seen plenty by him to have formed my own opinion thanks. Doubt his fanboys will agree with me. And frankly the idea of going round that particular roundabout one more time is not appealing.

Mandela is a fantastic advert for the rehabilitative effects of a quarter-century in prison.

Entered a violent terrorist, emerged a man of peace. Heart-warming really.

You have to understand they you cannot dispute what is in the great book.  Likewise one of the defenders, like porky, will not tolerate critique of what he seeks to support.

PP I am not a fan boy of TR, like him or loathe him you can't question his courage. I think it will end badly for him. People such as yourself though are content to let outsiders come into this country with a desire to take over/change our way of life. Now of course this country has been influenced by outside cultures. Take the Indians with their smelly food luckily for me I love a good curry Love however if I didn't they wouldn't want to force me to eat it. Then there's the Afro Carribean culture who came over here with their reggae music and their style of dress, again for me I loved the music and loved the clothes so I became a skinhead in the late sixties early seventies, however yet again the black lads didn't say I had to listen to their music or wear the same style clothes. Then we have the few and I mean the few who want to force us in this country to pray as they do, dress as they do etc etc. People like you PP you want to turn a blind eye, if this is not addressed now fast forward a few generations do you think Tommy Robinsons future relatives will fair any better than yours, as this bores you don't bother answering Mischief

Interesting you cite recent history dan and mention the influx from Commonwealth countries in the 60s and 70s.

....

Indeed in 1961 there were 2.3m foreign born people in the UK
in 1981 there were 3.2m.
An increase of 900,000 over 20 years. 45,000 a year.

2001 to 2011 there was an increase from 4.6m to 7.5m.

An increase of 2.9m in 10 years. Or 290,000 a year.

So you think anyone from anywhere should be allowed to come and settle in the UK?

e.g. 100m people from developing countries next year?

unless there is seperation and borders mankind becomes less human and progress is impossible.
This is inevitable , history shows us, there is a reason why we are so different.
It is fundamental to progress and survival.

A really bizarre thread. The OP asks a question about whether Tommy Robinson is a Fraud and we have people coming on implying he's a fraud because he wrote a book and charged people to buy his book and then they can't explain why a person selling a book to someone is relevant to him being a fraud 3 pages later.

Then we have some people wishing harm on the person mentioned in the OP.

Then we have folk trying to justify their point because X,Y,Z posted about something 2 weeks ago on another x, y, z  thread. . No wonder chit chat and the art of discussion is
dead.

if he's been done for fraud, lying to swindle money, why would he not lie and exaggerate in a book to do the same, there's one born every minute, and there's a huge angry market out there atm to take advantage of.

SH no one is disputing that TR was done for Mortgage fraud, however he was prosecuted for that in pretty much the same way that Al Capone was done by the US authorities for tax invasion. The point I'm raising is that there are many radical preachers etc who didn't have the pleasure of the close scrutiny of our law enforcement agencies. Double standards like this are what generates hate and division. This continued path by our government will cause more unrest than the likes of Tommy Robinson could ever cause !
By:

But the doubles standards aren't the things causing hate and division. The things the thuggish fraudster says and writes to his flock cause division. Similarly, the things radical preachers teach to their disciples will cause division. Two sides of the same coin.

As for those double standards, that really is the weakest form of being an apologist. "Yes he's a convicted fraudster but why aren't other people - the ones that we don't like - why aren't they being charged for crimes too."

Normally, I'd expect to see someone saying something's wrong, then trying to lay down some context to say the offence isn't so bad when you look at it this way, then maybe a bit of distraction on to something else entirely but the whole "yes, he's a crook but he's just unlucky because the police have spotted him being crooked and haven't looked at others" is spectacularly weak.

It must be me and my lack of grammar so I'll try again. The hate and division comes from the government actions or lack there of ! They keep turning a blind eye to the Muslim extremists, how many times do we see on our news these people with "Death to non believers" with the Old Bill standing right beside them ! Imagine if roles where reversed and the EDL had placards death to all Muslims . That quite rightly would fly like a lead balloon. You've got Jeremy Corbyn with a little tear in his eye after the Finsbury attack but can't raise one for the poor little innocent kids in Manchester or the victims of London Bridge with one of the young women being stabbed to death all the time being told "God is great". We then have our courts protecting the Human (I used the term loosely) rights of the likes of Abu Hammza. Personally I couldn't give a flying fu ck if Jordan tortures people. AND this is the point this country IS tolerant allowing people to follow their faiths, love who they want to love and has welcomed people from all over the globe to live here only to see some come here and abuse the British nations hospitality. As I approach my later years I hope I have become more tolerant and thoughtful, thirty years ago I would of more likely of followed the Tommy Robinson route although I doubt I would of had the courage to put his head so far above the parapet as he has.

lfc I also would have to disagree with you, this country wouldn't be better if TR was in charge. He would not have the strength or power to take the country away from where it would go. For all its faults I still prefer to live is this tolerant great nation of ours.

That is all very well ufc, but in England we have too many people as it is , I know what America is like having lived and worked there.
They have led the way in science, technology , industry that drives and maintains the wealth we all enjoy.
That is changing .

Back to the original post, i think its important to put the conviction for mortgage fraud into context.

Its evident the police crawled through every part of his life trying to find anything to stop his political activism

The best they could find was mortgage fraud

In the context of mortgage fraud cases, it was at the lower end - something which has been commented on by several human rights lawyers

They also went through the lives of his close family and wider family and prosecuted some of them for the most trivial of offences to apply pressure on him to stop his activism and to come under their control

one of his family members ended up getting prosecuted for not paying tax on ebay sales of under £10k!

They also raided his home, his wider family and friends homes on numerous occasions often getting as part of the warrant the right to seize paperwork and electrical goods.

They took his elderly parents tv away on numerous occasions!

And on nearly all their warrant evidence and charges, they rarely prosecuted and if they did it was withdrawn a few days before the trial.

I am NO fan of the far right (or the far left for that matter), but when political activists regardless of what they believe are hounded and suppress by the state using laws and power perversely, then i support their right to fight back and expose such tactics.

People on the left who hate Tommy Robinson for political reasons need to be careful, when your opinion or point of view is considered 'extreme' because it doesn't fit with and challenges the status quo, there will be no one coming to defend and support your rights to freedom of belief, expression and speech.

everyone should be free to say and think what they like

Sunderland shopkeeper told to take down a sign saying 'Don't Fund Terrorism'. Plod came 7 times to hassle him and threatened him with withdrawing his licence. A muslim had complained.

Tommy has now secured a lawyer to fight the case.

In my book Tommy is the salt of the earth. Salt changes things and by God he's trying...
