How do people come to the number 300 ? most of the media say it will be closer to 70 dead, 58 not far off that atm. 23 floors 6 flats to a floor 138 flats X 4 or 5 (?) to a flat = c 600 residents ? Unknown, no one being told , media blackout etc. Is HOW MANY SURVIVED ????.( ie how many are being rehoused, being given monies by rhe Government. Etcetc . Because number of survivors, subtracted from 600( probably understated) = Number of dead. The public are being kept in the dark/ misinformed / lied to. Why ? The understanding is, better to drip feed an ever growing estimate of those dead / missing, as this will filter out with the lessening of people's grief over time. If the true ? Number was given today. Absolute bedlam !! |

Why is it your concern facts. Would you prefer a different guess, would a higher number inflate your anger further? Until they get all the bodies out they will have to estimate how many were there, and how many got out. Do you think this is easy when all you have is a tennants list?
By:
Facts I believe there are 120 flats
By:
think there is 24 floors ,part of the refit created community hub areas ,encompassing 2 floors and reduced the amount of flats to the 120 figure (20 floors of residential) if i read correctly .
Read one hub area was on the 4th floor, but also read that one resident that was on the fourth floor and i presumed he lived there was at his window and he was rescued 12 hours after the blaze started ,gives an idea of the speed and intensity of the fire and that firefighters were unable to get up into the block ,of course half the stuff you read turns out to be false so unsure what is true and what is false . suppose its folly to quote the msm in this day and age. |

luckily the flat owner where the firte started managed to get all his belongings on the street before the fire went out of control,

As I've already pointed out many flats, up to the 11th floor on one side were undamaged. Look at the photos if you can bothered doing any research rather than just making stuff up and posing on the internet. Plus what about the flats with pensioners in them? Were there 5 in those flats? They were 1 and 2 bed flats. Did you bother looking that up? Did you look ANYTHING up?
The older I get the more conspiracy nuts annoy me. |
By:
It's very hard to believe anything we're told though..about anything.
Why haven't they provided a figure for the number of survivors? Surely that's the easy part. |
By:
58 to 79 is a big jump...this is already one of the deadliest tower fires in history, worldwide. Excluding hotel/plane crash induced fires this is the 2nd worse in terms of death toll!

Until they get all the bodies out they will have to estimate how many were there, and how many got out. Do you think this is easy when all you have is a tennants list? I would have thought it should be everybody's concern Saddo. Your comment re: ' different guess/inflate anger , I find utterly insulting. You may very well be comfortable with the situation as it is. But to not inform the public of the true situation is pretty damning in my eyes. As for the numbers - they are known aren' they ? Number of people living in the Tower block ( officially) will be on Council records. Numbers of people receiving money and/or temporary accommodation ( ie Survivors)!are known by the Council. The difference between the two are the ' missing' I would suggest the real number is known, but the Government aren't releasing it, for fear of repercussions. Do you think that's right ? |
By:
They could have had friends round, illegal sub-letters living there, and you also assume everyone on the records was at home that night. Of course they don't know, get a grip and have some patience.

Just Checking
I'm no ' conspiracy nut ' Of course I've seen the pictures. All the information needed is on the Internet / social media, and if you choose MSM. Yes, I was aware there were pensioners. This was an utter disaster. Totally avoidable, and it sickens me that the Government is doing all they can to deflect the blame. The reasons why it occurred and the dreadful way it's been managed afterwards/now, typifies the way in which society is. The poor and underprivileged are abused. In this case it's resulted in a huge loss of life. The very least the residents, their community and the general public at large should expect, is the truth. |

Saddo
' get a grip ' ???, Is that what you think is it ? I shall post no more on this subject. |
By:
Police have been on every Floor Perhaps that Number (79) includes what they can make out to be Human Bodies ,many people will have been incinerated Re: the police saying some people may never be Identified ...
Add to that what Saddo says Plus the Possibility of Absent Fathers etc being Present or Visiting Friends family staying over, the number could be well above the official council list . |
By:
This was an utter disaster. Totally avoidable, and it sickens me that the Government is doing all they can to
deflect the blame. What utter tosh Facts. What have the government done to deflect the blame? By that statement you are saying that you know who was to blame. You like the Corbyn ultras who were stirring up trouble at the council offices should be ashamed of your words/actions. Hi-jacking a tragedy to score cheap political points. |
By:
It was a disaster for Theresa May and the Conservatives. It will end her and give them huge problems in the future.
By:
Panorama (BBC1 8:30) should be interesting!
By:
So you've apportioned the blame to the Tories.
What evidence are you going on? |
By:
£5million funds for Grenfell towers,
compare that to £379MILLION to tart up buck house, something not right there to my way of thinking |
By:
Me?
The Tories and May? Where do you want to start? The Grenfell House fire is symbolic of what is wrong with this Country Akabula. I don't even want to go into Housing Laws and reports and reccomendations from the Lakanal House Fire. Many people are questioning why they are here and what sort of scoiety they want to live in. The privatisiation of everything and the cheap cheap cheap culture that allows the already wealthy to exploit the rest. Laws that are made for the rich to expolit the rest. You obviously can't see it. Dont get me wrong I am not endorsing Corbyn but the people are stirring. We are many they are few. Things are going to change. The Tories need to remove May to stop the rot. They all know it! |
By:
Oh and don't think Labour are exempt! Privitisation under bLiar, Tuition Fees all wrong wrong wrong! These are going to be reversed.

By:
BBC1, just absolutely heartbreaking
![]() |
By:
been said before but the warnings were there ,other fairly recent tower block fires, as ever it takes a disaster for things to change
By:
to the people complaining who were at the time still alive, the council told them there were no fire risks and anymore trouble from them action would be taken
By:
I still want to know if the Council held meetings with the Contractors while the fire was still burning.
By:
of course
By:
terry, the 5 million figure was absolutely ridiculous, who thought that one up, !! austere times or not its a feckin insult imo.

By:
its cos poor people don't matter Glasgow, feckin insult is right

It'll tide them over until the court settlement...........where there's a blame there's a claim

42 people crammed into one room all died as they tried to shild themselves from the flames, try to imagine that
![]() |
By:
Tragic
I often wondered what I'd do especially after 9/11 I have a fear of falling to my death. Would I run into the flames to get it over with or jump and hope I had a heart attack before hitting the ground. So sorry for these poor souls we all know our day will come but it's how you go ![]() |
By:
truly GOD awful mindblowing way to go ufc
By:
it makes you question if there is a God............for me the answer is no !
By:
well the answer to that it seems is,HE created the world and what happens after is down to mankind, good or evil.
By:
If he/she/it did create man why so many evil people and why so much unfairness in the world (not talking about the supposed poor people in this country anxious) I'm talking about the real poverty throughout the world

The bodies of up to 42 people were found in just one room by search and rescue teams combing Grenfell Tower after the fatal fire last week, it has been claimed.
It is believed the remains of the group were discovered inside one of the flats by recovery teams who have been searching the White City tower block over the last few days. A video uploaded on YouTube shows an unnamed man speaking in front of the burned out tower. He said: 'He said: 'I've got a friend who works for the fire brigade here, yeah? Yesterday on the phone he said they found about 42 bodies in one room, all hiding together. No-one knows that And a spokesman for the Met Police said he would not be able to advise on numbers or information relating to the searches so far. One of the worst disasters in recent history, police have confirmed 79 are thought to have died but the true figure is thought by residents and locals to be much higher. A friend of victim, who wished to remain unnamed, told MailOnline close to the scene of the tragedy: 'They found 42 bodies in one flat. The word tragic doesn't even begin to describe it. It's heartbreaking. Maybe they went there to comfort each other.' The landscape of the Lancaster Estate in White City changed forever in the early hours of Wednesday morning after a fire broke out around 1.30pm |
