After the second world war, we picked up the sticks and got back to trading with the world again -

Now we cannot extricate ourselves from the EU?
We need to do a hard brexit. dissolve every agreement immediately and renegotiate.
Otherwise we are not leaving the EU. we are just renaming what we have now.

a rose by any other name...

I voted to leave the EU when given the choice.

I voted to join the Common Market in 1975 (a common market, not economic and political union).

I voted in the referendum to leave the EU, to get the fook out of it all ... then we can negotiate with the EU what bits we want to be part of and which bits they allow us to be part of.

It's that simple ... FFS, how many numpties do we have in this country?

The referendum was for Brexit if I understand it correctly? Not hard or soft, right? If that's the case, the fact that a soft or hard brexit is under discussion should tell you what the eventual result will be. It will be a soft brexit. Because if they wanted a hard one, they'd have done that already.

It was clear this would happen because the american president clearly said that he would not want the people of Britain to vote to leave EU. They still did. So it was up to the govt to reverse that. And they are doing it. And they WILL do it. If Theresa May has to pop out a baby and name it Brexit and announce that Brexit just happened, she will do it. You people are too much into democracy. Get out a little, breath some fresh air, and realze the world doesn't run on your votes.

hard/soft brexit is a made up concept, carefully designed (like all the other abuse of the English language) to disguise and confuse the masses.

As long as enough of us don't fall for it, and call it out for the BS it is, then the elites won't be allowed to steamroller the democratic will of the people.

The Country voted to stop the European Nurses coming to work in the NHS.
NHS has a shortage of 30,000 nurses. Applications for Nursing from EU countries are down 96%.
But don't worry applications are up from Pakistan and Uganda !

If we rejoin a common market I'll be all for it.  But not a fookin United States of Europe!!

BTW a common market doesn't mean people strolling over our border ... it's a common market.  A goods trading place - where people sell cabbages, wine, cheese, tomatoes etc etc.
Is it really that hard for people to understand this basic stuff??

mememe,

I think Jack was merely pointing out that you could never have voted to join the Common Market as that was never an option given to the people of the UK.

We were unilaterally taken into the EEC on January 1st 1973 and then given a referendum to remain or leave on June 7th 1975.  The vote was 67% to remain, and so we did.

In my opinion if there had been a vote to join the EEC it would not have been passed...

Spot on Platini. Invented phrases designed to dilute (or stop) our leaving of the EU.

The Left hate UKIP with a passion and yet their obstruction of democracy will see them return bigger than before.

The problem is, mafeking, there's only one party which would carry that out.

personally I believe they(*) are delaying until the Rapture.
Once the 'EVENT' happens Brexit will be forgotten entirely.
People will be scrambling to explain the rapture and it's
consequences. One world government is on the cards.

I keep hearing we didn't vote for a hard or soft Brexit but from what I remember everyone ruled out staying in the single market if we left, and a big theme for the leave campaigners was trading with the rest of the world i.e. 'hard' brexit. If the options put to voters were 'soft' Brexit or remain I think remain would have won.

controlling immigration is not about being racist it's simply that a country has so many resources and if so many hands are out the balance gets messed up and nothing is working right. the nhs is just one symptom of an over populated country that cannot support itself properly financially.
By:

when people protest about stopping immigration it's with good intentions but it probably comes across as racist because people say it like "all these poles coming over here and taking our jobs." well it's actually fair enough that a country should protect its citizens and control the number of people coming in from other countries and taking away from the state which was built up by UK citizens over many years. people come to the uk for money, no other reason. it's not for the weather. there are too many people in this country, end of story.

All these people claiming that only one version of Brexit (effectively hard Brexit) was discussed have incredibly short and selective memories. All sorts of things were mentioned in the lead up to the referendum particularly by the leave campaign and Farage. Included amongst these were that we could be like Switzerland or Norway. People voted for Brexit for a large number of differing reasons.  For many it was never a simple exit from everything. Thankfully, the election result may now lead to some common sense instead of giving in to the bullying of the far right loons.

I don't think anyone voted against mutually beneficial trade arrangements with the EC.

I think the main issues were taking control of our borders/population and a return to sovereignty.

It's all irrelevant anyway as the E.U. is going to collapse and the the Euro is failing as Farage pointed out,
actually once you are armed with this knowledge the whole process becomes pointless.Take a bow Sir Nige.

We had several years to think about the Brexit vote, it was put off to the last years of their term by the Conservatives. To say that people did not understand what they were voting for is stupid and arrogant.

Do you want to leave your Husband? yes-no
do you want to leave the house? yes no
Do you want to leave the EU? yes-no.

It's simple English.

We joined the common market. We did not sign up to losing all our control to an octopus sitting in the middle of Europe. All our laws being dictated to us. Why vote for MP's if Europe decides what happens.

we wanted to trade with Europe - not to be ruled by Europe.

why bring Nurses into it?
they are a minor intake.
it's 330,000 a year.

Why not tug on the heart strings by saying the bus drivers or the fruit pickers?
It's nothing to do with immigration. It's about controlling the UK from outside our borders.

All those madmen that attacked us through the centuries and we bend over to Bankers and politicians in the EU? Control through the hole in the wall(banks).

They folded Greece into a neat square when they restricted the cash withdrawal from the people's bank accounts. 60 euros a day? They strangled it into submission. Do what we say or you get Fked.

Let's wait until they do that to us? They control your bank and mine. They can empty any account and get away with it. It's insidious control.

The Eurozone is held together with sticking plaster. Deflationary pressures have led to massive youth unemployment with several countries teetering on the edge Greek style.
If we stay in we will end up paying a lot more in the long run as we will be forced into ever closer union, politically, militarily and financially.

Ok what did Farage say? this argument has already been destroyed by Andrew Neil. All campaigns said we should leave the single market. If they campaigned for a Norway style deal they would have lost easily.

Blank, of course Farage and other leave campaigners mentioned the Switzerland and Norway models on plenty of occasions and also suggested they were potential ways to go. Stick to your selective memory if you want.
