Knee jerk reaction is all they can do,Armed police on streets of every major city absolute useless hollow gesture

would be much better if they spent their resources on investigating where the problem comes from in THIS country but no - it is running around in circles reacting instead of acting before anything happens

but they won't  too many votes to loose.

Anyone would think nothing was being done by Government from the comments on here from posters
with all the solutions.Maybe it's to appease these sorts of people who are cynical.

If they put one on every street, in every town, it will still be ineffective, and won't stop the kind of attack as in Manchester!

They need to put people in every place but not out on the streets.

A security expert summed it up this morning when he said it would be impossible to eliminate all crime

Im all for having the army at large scale events, concerts and things incase anyone gets clever and tries to do something like Paris.

It is posturing I'm afraid. Taxpayers money would be better spent on increasing money to the police and intelligence forces. When one of these b@astards slips through the cracks it is an oft used argument that there are not the resources to track each and every target. I don't care if Labour or the Tories are in govt - the security/intelligence services should always be adequately funded so they are not trying to do their job with one hand tied behind their backs. Also, when did it become customary for the police force to be faced with cuts constantly? I remember the Tories of the 80s were keen on police funding.
