I was getting a bus for 70p ten years ago. It's now £2.10 a single trip over four stops.
Daily local travel £4.50.

Food has been shaved down - this is classic hiding of inflation.
Instead of your favourite sweets being the usual size you get smaller bars?
i recently bought a turkish delight, it lost a quarter of it's size the ridges on the top were gone.
chocolate paper thin? they do this with everything.

They are hiding inflation. repeat - they are hiding inflation. Now suddenly it's free? out of the box.

Confectionery is a flavoured lump of sugary fat, pure energy. You don't need this unless you are trekking across Antarctica. Cut it out.

Ironically, I'm off to Bournville later today to meet some friends.
If they knew what I just posted I would be banned.

Back of the purple chocolate factory yesterday.
Not much activity, perhaps the new owners have moved production to Poland already.

it's not just choco - it's across the board, with food. used the choco as an example.

pepsi - £2.50 for a two litre bottle? gtf.
tin of red grapefruit was 30p - 57p in one jump. pineapple 30p now 50p in one jump (tesco) how is that 3 percent inflation?

Felix cat food you used to get 48 pouches for around a tenner. Then it went to 44 and now it's 40. Amazingly the box that holds them is still the same size.

same as the currency situation. The pound was overvalued for years and had been on a downward trend (market correction) trend v the USD for a long time before Brexit.

ever heard of VAT?

entry to common market was conditional on us introducing it.  Now running at 20 percent I do believe.  A huge con.
An even bigger con is you have to calculate it and collect it for the government.  The rules etc around it are draconian.

Not worth buying crisps anymore. The bags are 2/3rds empty.

bread up by 50 percent since 2004, rice 60 percent. butter 13 percent, margarine 70 percent?.
meat by 50 percent.

quote from a baker in 2008 - I'm frugal. I've watched the cost of flour go up 50% in less than a year. I'm now paying 30¢ a pound (50 lb bag of enriched bleached bread flour from Costco $14.99)

it's went up by more since 2008.

For most people, levels of inflation are largely irrelevant unless compared to the relevant rise or fall in earnings.
