I'm on a pension, well 2 actually, and thanks to the Tory party for raising the tax threshold year on year I am now £1k per year better off.
In my situ that's a welcome sum of money.
I've seen people who claim to be in poverty with mobile phones, drinking and smoking. It's not austerity that's the problem it's a lack of prioritising.

So that they can pay their taxes so the feckless get a nice 3 bedroom house of the council etc, work shy claiming ESA still managing a holiday to Spain.

Politicians laugh at you when you put them in categories like left, centre, right, liberal, conservative, centre left and what not. Its so common to see people nowadays blame the country's troubles on someone, just because he is liberal or left. Just look at how people behave on this forum. You give an opinion and you are immediately put into one category. If I say something in favor of muslim immigrants, i'd be called a liberal probably.
The politicians are there to make a living. They are not there to solve your issues. The trick is in making you think that's what they are for. If I had the ability to claim 2k Pounds for a toilet leak, i'll claim it. If someone tried to change the law to prevent me from doing that, i'll bring him in on the con. At the end of the day, the group of politicians that you so fondly put in groups belong to one family. And they know people can't do anything as long as they keep the people divided and keep exchanging govts among each other.
That is how it has always been. And will continue to be. As long as there is need for people to be governed, there will be politicians faking to fulfill that need.
