When are the Police going to start doing their job and prosecute cyclists who ride on the pavement? |

Definitely not as it was abolished in 1937. Modern Vehicle License Excise Duty is based on emmissions so cyclists wouldn't pay anyway as their emmissions are zero. Most cyclists are also drivers so pay Vehicle License Excise Duty on their vehicles. I cycle whenever I can but still have to pay Vehicle License Excise Duty on my family car and motorhome. |

I walk whenever I can and I still have to pay road tax.
Yet I feel safer on the road driving these days than I do walking on the pavements. With cycles whizzing past me along with those mobility scooters driven by people who look like they should be in hospital. Or home in bed recovering from something. |

I walk a lot too and have had several near misses with high speed cyclists on the pavement. They could do serious injury to pedestrians and probably don't have insurance.
They don't have bells anymore so you can't hear them approaching from behind. I've even seen police cycling on the pavement so we know their attitude to it. |

Cars pay tax as they take up room on the road you know parking and stuff also A bike goes in the shed |

they shouldn't be riding them - they are death traps - they have no protection at all
If you have a tin box around you at 30 you have a chance cyclists much less so same with motorbikes(higher speeds of course) speak top anyone who works in trauma units |

Maybe cancel cars and just use bikes then

it is just yet another minority group trying to force their will on the majority If Tereason May adopted a slogan - BAN ALL CYCLISTS in the interests of safety she would get even more votes. After all it would mean a lot less using and clogging up A @ E I will no longer have to fight my way through buckled wheels on my way to be treated having been mown down by a red light dodger. I walk around town most of the time once I am there so I can suck up all the diesel fumes while I dodge mad cyclists tearing down the pavement at the embankment and all these runners - dozens of the stupid persons out at lunch time!!!! |

The UK is decades behind the rest of Europe in providing safe cycling facilities. Denmark recognised in the 1980s that a transport system relying on the motor car was unsustainable and did something about it.
In Scandinavian countries there is often the very simple system of wider pavements with a white line down the middle. Cyclists use the outside and pedestrians the inside. Operates perfectly with no issues. |

It was a long time ago but I remember on my trips to Amsterdam how so many were peacefully sailing around on their bikes - didn't seem to be any problem.

Most on here want the bikes banned because they are too fat to get on one themselves.
