Listening to it on the radio there.  Started today.  Thirteen peeps pulled over by the cycle cop.
Report trilby22 April 24, 2017 12:27 PM BST
I'll be interested to see how many cyclists get pulled over for breaking red lights, etc.

DO these people pay road taxes?
Report Dr Crippen April 24, 2017 4:59 PM BST
Yes trilby22 or for riding on the footpath which seems to be normal practise for cyclists now.

When are the Police going to start doing their job and prosecute cyclists who ride on the pavement?

When are the Police going to start doing their job............period

****s on bikes, ****s in cars, ****s everywhere

bottom line is if your are driving a car too close to a cyclist then you are a ****

DO these people pay road taxes?

Definitely not as it was abolished in 1937. Modern Vehicle License Excise Duty is based on emmissions so cyclists wouldn't pay anyway as their emmissions are zero. Most cyclists are also drivers so pay Vehicle License Excise Duty on their vehicles. I cycle whenever I can but still have to pay Vehicle License Excise Duty on my family car and motorhome.
Report Dr Crippen April 24, 2017 7:46 PM BST
I walk whenever I can and I still have to pay road tax.

Yet I feel safer on the road driving these days than I do walking on the pavements.
With cycles whizzing past me along with those mobility scooters driven by people who look like they should be in hospital. Or home in bed recovering from something.
Report Foinavon April 24, 2017 7:57 PM BST
I walk a lot too and have had several near misses with high speed cyclists on the pavement. They could do serious injury to pedestrians and probably don't have insurance.
They don't have bells anymore so you can't hear them approaching from behind.
I've even seen police cycling on the pavement so we know their attitude to it.

I dont pay walking tax do i need to pay to cross a road

Cars pay tax as they take up room on the road you know parking and stuff also

A bike goes in the shed

Safer driving goodness me crippen i take it you dont know how easy they pass people these days
Report moisok April 24, 2017 8:23 PM BST
they shouldn't be riding them - they are death traps - they have no protection at all
If you have a tin box around you at 30 you have a chance

cyclists much less so

same with motorbikes(higher speeds of course)

speak top anyone who works in trauma units
Report TheChaser April 24, 2017 8:26 PM BST
Maybe cancel cars and just use bikes then

Be a lot safer

Public transport and bikes only

Leave cars at home

The bike was here before the car

Next you will want horse and carts banned from Blackpool because if you hit a horse at 30 then you gonna kill that horse
Report moisok April 24, 2017 8:27 PM BST
you miss the whole point
it is one of protection
ask anyone who works in a trauma unit
Report TheChaser April 24, 2017 8:42 PM BST
If they ban cyclists then got to ban horse and carts also then

Or do horses not matter
Report moisok April 24, 2017 8:44 PM BST
horses lives matter

cyclists are mad and bad

they keep driving into these lorries and buses in London

people get tired of cleaning up the mess

I get a taxi into town

they are always in the way
Report TheChaser April 24, 2017 8:45 PM BST
The trauma at the Animals Farm will be against horse and cart

Do you think motorbike should be banned as well ?

cyclists are the devil's spawn

it is just yet another minority group trying to force their

will on the majority

If Tereason May adopted a slogan - BAN ALL CYCLISTS  in the interests of safety

she would get even more votes.  After all it would mean a lot less using and clogging up A @ E

I will no longer have to fight my way through buckled wheels on my way to be treated having been
mown down by a red light dodger.

I rest my case.

I will instruct my somali drivers not to drive at cyclists like they are rhinos

it is very hard to get the jungle out of them

my apologies

ps
I walk around town most of the time once I am there

so I can suck up all the diesel fumes while I dodge mad cyclists tearing down the pavement at the embankment
and all these runners - dozens of the stupid persons out at lunch time!!!!

The UK is decades behind the rest of Europe in providing safe cycling facilities. Denmark recognised in the 1980s that a transport system relying on the motor car was unsustainable and did something about it.
In Scandinavian countries there is often the very simple system of wider pavements with a white line down the middle. Cyclists use the outside and pedestrians the inside. Operates perfectly with no issues.

James May:

The bicycle was without doubt one of the greatest inventions ever. Without the bicycle, and the desire for liberty it generated, we would probably not have the car. Many of our great carmakers began by making bicycles - Peugeot as well - and most of us learn the basics of the Highway Code riding a bicycle.

...

Cyclists jump red lights and ride across the pavement, but so what? Cyclists are pedestrians really, since they are leg-powered. They’ve just added a few levers and cogs to improve their own efficiency.

Bicycles should never be regulated, they should never be subject to road tax, they should not require third-party insurance and competence to ride a bicycle should not be tested. It tests itself, because if you can’t do it, you have a crash. Bicycles are the first rung on the personal-transport ladder and should be free at the point of use. I’ll champion the bicycle until I’m worn through to the canvas.

A bicycle liberates you and opens up the world to you, however poor, unfortunate, unemployable or just downright individual you are. And as such, the opinions of anyone wishing to impose licences, laws or helmets on its users should be treated with the contempt all such dull drones deserve.
Report akabula April 28, 2017 1:33 AM BST
Most on here want the bikes banned because they are too fat to get on one themselves.
More bikes means less fatties so go for it. But don't cast off yer stabilisers too soon like this loon.

Looks about as familiar with riding a bicycle in that picture as E Miliband did with eating a bacon sandwich.
