WHO IS THE FORUM'S CLEVEREST?

It is a great act of cleverness to be able to conceal one is being clever. Shocked so we may never know the answer. Plain

A few people have put by a distance or by a country mile etc - it would be nice to know why exactly.

Oh right. Well don't leave it too long mate we can't keep the poll open forever. There doesn't seem to be a clear favourite which makes me think people are just voting for their mates which is typically sad. Some of the nominees I have never heard of, but some of the ones who have been voted for deffo aren't the forum's cleverest! LaughLaughLaughLaughLaugh

Well ok seeing as we are running out of breath i will vote...

I see about 8 on ere as very similar in their intellect; can't split em, all have their moments and are all well read. I could pick each one for a particular subject and would be happy to do a quiz with them. But to me a comic brain shows more than making me laugh, it shows insight and thought into the world we live in. And as being a comedian is the hardest thing in the world to accomplish (besides pinging a tasmanian devil) i'm goiug with someone who was about here the other day and still the owner of some of the funniest freds ever scene on ere and elsewhere. Frasier..

How can one determine a persons cleverness,  through the confusion of one's own prejudices. Answers on an epostcard, thank you. Plain

I've seen anyone  on here who could get anywhere near Bert in a row. although SDK performed creditably. He combined a superb brain and sharp mind with a very acidic tongue. He also kept his cool, and never lost it in an argument/discussion. Well he kept his cool for a long time but became rather vitriolic in his later days on here.

Never had the pleasure of seeing Bert in action AFAIK. Like to think I'm pretty decent in an Internet ruck, but Pokermonster is probably the best in that area IMO - he politely makes people look foolish Laugh

Arbing! Hope Slippy doesn't spot this, lol. No I don't. That avenue is more or less closed, although I do the odd one. eg, £100ew on McIlror for Masters. Sky paying 1/4 odds first 8.Take a loss on the win market, but make a bigger profit on the top 8 market on here by laying the bet. Would have liked £500ew to make a quick £100 but restricted to £50 ew so just made about £20, but it all adds up.

The way I try and operate now, is by backing vhorses that I'm confident will be supported, before they get supported.

restricted to £100ew should read.

That's a shame but the books were bound to close such loopholes eventually.
I have no expertise on horses so anything I back is likely to go out in the market.
Since I've been on here I've mainly traded Test Match Cricket (and the weather forecasts). I sometimes wonder if I know any more about that than the horses.

Didn't mean to imply there aren't arbs out there, but it's too much hard work for me these days.Plus I've run out of people to let me open accounts in their names.

I've often thought the draw is nearly always too low on Test Matches before the match starts, and that it would be a certain profit maker to act on this. I have no stats to back this up, mind.

Where are these quizzes? Are they on the forum somewhere or another forum? The only quiz I have seen on here is pokermonster's guessing game, but that isn't really a quiz IMO.

If you look on the cricket forum, you will see some long term stats maintained by Crunchy Frog. As with all things, you have to be careful as there are a lot of factors priced in to the SP.
