Apparently, the attacker looked very young. Witnesses reckoned he was only 23 or 24 and got left behind in Calais because he was too young to get taken into the UK.

I've just heard that it was all a terrible mistake.
Apparently the poor man gunned down by the trigger happy soldiers was a visitor from Yorkshire (Bradford it's thought). He shouted "Ello, ee, eck, bah gum" and he was going to say "it's a bit nippy" but they shot him. It's understood that his Asian appearance was coal dust from having done a shift downt pit. |
