A disturbing portfolio of films.

10 Rillington Place was real horror, the two new tenants, from Jamaica looking into the crawlspace was memorable?
1984, Alien, elephant Man... All very disturbing.

it's hard to think of a role in which he plays a cuddly sort.

the silent man in White Mischief was a character that stood out. Along with the storyteller tv show.

Bob champion, rich in a man for all seasons.

impeccable choices in acting roles.

Hurt playing Hadden in the 'aeroplane' scene of Contact was just masterful and still makes my hair stand up.

He did a fine job as narrator on the Art Of Noise concept album 'The Seduction Of Claude Debussy'.

Facts, it was very good but one of those uncomfortable to watch movies. Natalie Portman is excellent, you literally can't take your eyes off her.

Thought one of his best films was Midnight Express, very intense film loosely based on a true story, all the performances were top notch especially Brad Davis and John Hurt. Davis died at 41 and now sadly John Hurt, all his roles you could see that he put everything into it. And always very interesting to listen to on chat shows unlike a lot of actors who are just boring on these shows.

He is also the 3rd Harry Potter actor ( with Alan Rickman and Roger Lloyd Pack ), to be lost to pancreatic cancer. R.I.P.

Great actor, drank way too much which probably caused his pancreatic cancer :
.
http://about-cancer.cancerresearchuk.org/about-cancer/pancreatic-cancer/risks-causes

About 7 out of 10 cases (70%) of chronic pancreatitis are due to long term heavy drinking. Chronic pancreatitis is a known risk factor for cancer of the pancreas.

Some research suggests there may be a link between heavy drinkers and risk of pancreatic cancer.

The risk is higher in people who drink 3 or more alcoholic drinks a day compared to those who drink less than 1 alcoholic drink a day.

I don't think Steve Jobs was a big drinker - sugar is a great destroyer of organs. Fructose can be as toxic as Glucose, sucrose - I was getting pains for a while in the pancreas area? cut out sugar for a year? Back on it now? Took a break and now i'm hooked again. But still feel as if I could quit it tomorrow without much effort.
I was shocked that you can buy a bag of sugar for 60p - I thought it was 90p the last time i bought one? In a world of inflation, why is it cheaper?
A sugar tax should be at the source - £1.50 a bag of sugar. I'm piss poor and I can afford that.

John Hurt was very good in "The Proposition", among his less-well known roles. 77 is a decent age for someone who drank and smoked a lot. Several Economic factors have lead to a drop in sugar prices, including reduced consumption in China, increased harvest yield in Brazil and the ending of EU quota system. I know that diabetics are prone to pancreatic problems, so thee link with sugar consumption is understandable.

Great, great actor - though seemed to skip youth - middle-aged at best. Once saw him in the Coach And Horses - slightly disappointed it wasn't Tom Baker. He'll be next.

Just sat down this evening with my son and watched 'The Elephant Man'.
He was transfixed not knowing anything about the story.

Wonderful David Lynch film.

With the joys of Kodi, now sat watching 'Midnight Express' alone, as everyone's in bed.
John Hurt playing the mad Englishman who's been there for 7 years.
