banging on about productivity been the way for people to get pay rises whilst boss,s have a ready made supply of labour from the eu work as hard as you like your wages are gouing nowhere unless the law tells them to do so
Upping productivity only ups the 'expected efficiency levels' of employees.
120% efficiency rates become the expected norm and soon become 80% on the graphs. Distribution Centres give out awards to the most efficient employees ( those who work to around 120% ) Those at 80% (the accepted norm) are told to look those working at 120% and wonder why they can not do the same.
Wages do not increase.

I worked in an office until about nine years ago and tbf, most of them were under-productive - forever on the internet, chatting, endless cups of tea, long lunch breaks...
I don't know what it's like now - on the one hand economic climate is tougher but on the other, everyone's got a smartphone and is on facebook, twitter etc

Bosses should ban social media from the workplace and only allow use during official breaks. Nothing wrong with that.
That is more your office environment where that is a problem.
Factory/warehouse environments do not offer enough down time to accommodate moblie phone use.

I don't think anyone can work from the minute they get in to the minute they leave. People have always had lots of breaks at work in between. Whilst they now will be spending that time largely on the internet, people would previously take breaks in many different ways. e.g. chatting about the weekend, football .... Employers would be wise to focus on the amount of work completed by staff, rather than judge them on the hours they work, or the time they spend on the internet. Some people do lots of hours, yet achieve less than others who complete the basic requirement for hours.

I'll tell you were I got from ''Sir Dennis Thatcher'' He lived until he was 88.
Don't you just love them.
I'll tell you an even better one - ''the earlier you retire the longer you live.'' Now that really is sound advice.

company boss,s are after squeezing every last penny into their profits and have no interest in trickling down better terms to their employees when they have a ready made workforce prepared to work for the minimum wage and less provided for them by the government, cameron even give boss,s free labour of under 21,s paid for by the taxpayer who were forced to work in retail etc to get their dole even though it worked out under the minimum wage as i put on another thread yesterday its some of the countrys biggest earners sport, restraunts, pop concerts etc who pay their agency workers peanuts

bosses wont pay more unless there is a demand for workers.
but lower immigration and they sell less..
catch 22.
best thing imo would be to force down house prices and rents. give more money in people pockets.
may need a house building plan .
the tories wont do it though as it affects their own wealth.
imo we need house prices to come down by 50%.
businesses will be better off for it as lower costs filter down ...every one is a winner bar those who got mortgages at the high point.
