The last time I was in Liverpool was to watch Palace at Anfield, we lost 9-0. At 8-0 nil down we got a penalty which was booted over the bar, the Palace faithful then started singing "we're going to win the league and now are ya going to believe us?" The Kop burst out laughing and gave us a huge round of applause! Things must have changed since then but I was a bit shocked to see what a dreadful state the city was in back then.

Great city nowadays (centre at least) - I live over the water and try to get over as often as I can - unrecognisable from the 80s

@SlippyBlue...I unfortunately remember the night of that game very well because a couple of hours earlier,i had been drinking some cheap pi$$y lager,[Skol]at that paticular time, i had a bit of a drinking problem because of all sorts of bad crap that was goin on,,,anyway,i had been arguing with my brother and i was in a bit of a bad moood and so when i then heard someone outside contantly and very noisily riding a motorbike up and down the street,i decided to go out and have a little word.So i went outside and i said to this fella on the motorbike "Hey mate, when are yer gunna stop riding around here" the little c.nt then got of the bike,he was only about 5 foot 5,and came towards me,i was expecting him to say something to me but he surprised me by pushing me over and jumping on top of me,he then gave me a proper, proper good beating.I had the total crap punched outta me...I was rescued,as it where,by my 10 year old kid sister, who hearing a commotion, had ran outside and pulled on the little c.nts hair to get him of me....Liverpool 9 Crystal Palace 0.YEP!I remember the night of that game, very well.
