We have 2 eleven year old pooches and can't imagine being without them.

We live in a pretty rural area and our garden is often visited by hedgehogs, squirrels, voles, rabbits, a woodpecker and many other species of birds. Unfortunately the mutts ain't very keen and they chase them all off, except the hedgehogs who manage to fend them off and stand their ground quite wellLaugh
Report Makybe_Diva August 14, 2016 8:24 PM BST
It's very nice Ron. Would still love to see a hedgehog Sad
Report Foinavon August 14, 2016 8:48 PM BST
While I would love to have another dog, Ron, it's not possible for me either. Have to content myself feeding the wildlife in my garden. Lots of different birds and I love watching the antics of the squirrels. They usually chase off the smaller birds from the feeding stations but have seen a wood-pigeon stand up to them and of course they steer clear of magpies and jays.
Report Ron-Russian August 14, 2016 9:00 PM BST
Good stuff Foinavon Happy

had an instance with a wounded crow in the garden a few months back, injured wing
so couldn't fly, felt very sorry for it so aimed some bread in it's direction which
it took, literally the lot and hid it in places in the garden after it could eat
no more, then found a hide out in the garden, after a day or so there was a couple
of Crows doing their up most to kill this wounded crow, quite unbelievable scenes.
but they just could not get to it once it got back in it's hide out.

all a sudden it was gone - don't know whether it was killed or it's wing maybe
repaired - The End

In my life as a dog owner, I've sold two dogs. The first sale arrived home the next day under his own steam. The second sale (different dog) was brought back by his new owners within 24 hours. Apparently he farted too much for a posh household.

No money back, no VAT...

I've yet to buy a dog and I've had a few. I get given them by owners who, kind and gentle and gentle as they may be, haven't got a Scooby Doo how to train a dog.

The two that I sold  was to teach them a lesson. I knew they would miss their home.

i  love dogs and i would hate to part with a dog unless necessary ,and it's horrible putting a dog down  - but dogs adapt very quickly to new surroundings - they are more like children at a new school .

although i would like to think dogs missed us a lot  - but somehow i think maybe their memories work differently to ours
