Good on the Judge imo, showing she's human while making the toerag out to be what he was.
btw, I don't see the issue about what race/creed/beliefs the c*** possessed.

If someone spoke to me like that whatever my job or position, I would quite probably responded as the judge did.
She was calm and spoke to him in his own language.

Totally agree with aka and study - the guy was a c0ck and she spoke to him on his level.

Agreed SF. He was trying to shock and get a reaction. She remained calm and outwitted him. Mind you he doesn't look the sharpest.

Let me put this another way..

What if the defendant continued to use abusive language to the judge in court?
She replies in kind, so we now a judge and defendant both slagging each other off in a court of law.

This brings justice into disrepute.

She could have the stopped the defendant by threatening him with contempt of court, say 3 months in prison.
But having used the same language herself, she has constrained herself from doing this.

She should have used the contempt of court threat to start with, every time the defendant swore at her, she added 3 months to his
sentence, he will soon stop, otherwise he is likely to be spending the rest of his life in prison.

The judge could have used her very apt responses outside of court, but not in court

I rest my caseLaugh

Agree with akabula and studyform.

Why is everything nowadays blown out of all proportion?  Those in charge of her should have come out immediately in her defence and said the matter was concluded, end of.

I well understand your feelings annie, but in court everything must be decided by LAW, nothing else.

It is not a reality show, the judge will only be admonished, nothing serious I think

The Judge is in contempt of court.....she should be punished !

...and as she should know better, the sentence should be much stiffer than for a mere mortal.

studyform in his usual dishonest way pretending not to understand what race and nationality and religion mean in relation to this case.

there has never been a case where a British judge has spoken in this manner to someone who was not a white British christian.

and why not, because she would fear for her job, or worse.

now i have tried to make that as simple as possible for Studyform...
no doubt he will play the innocent again

How do you know that there has never been a case where a British judge has spoken in this manner to someone who was not a white British Christian? (Why do you consistently write 'christian' by the way? You should show more respect!)

Also, do you have any other examples of British judges calling c***s like this bloke, a c***?

yes mikael, i did not use a capital `c`. dreadful but then civility is not welcome as far as i am concerned, because then i would have to show the corresponding civility to this judge.
that is just what i would prefer to avoid.
do i admire her for what she has done, i don`t for the reasons i have given.

and also there have been no other cases, as far as i know, there may have been and they have failed to be reported on but i should not imagine it happens everyday.

There is only one way out of this sticky situation....

In future, whenever she passes sentence, her words must be in the following format.....e.g.

'I sentence you to 2 years imprisonment.  You are a bit of a c***'
'I sentence you to 12 month imprisonment, suspend for 18 months.  You are a bit of a c***'
etc

Okey dokey. Accepted.
Although,as I said at the top of my "been a while" thread.
Being PC or diversity driven has nothing to do with being 'leftist' nor does agreeing (or not) with any given point give people a direction.
Leftism seems to be a sort of insult I don't quite get.

One thing that chit chatters have not mentioned about this is that being a woman and a professional woman at that, she has probably never been called a c*** in her life and to a woman being called THAT word would have been extremely hurtful and distasteful.  It is the worst word you could ever call a woman and it must have really shocked her.

As to chit chatters that want her blood  I say get a life.  The law is about justice and what is the justice in harming the career of a woman that only replies to the worst insult a woman can receive.  She may not have been correct, but heigh ho  no one is perfect.  Again I say this has been blown out of all proportion, like everything else today in this politically correct, free speech not allowed world we now live in.
By:
annie.

I don't think she responded in temper Annie in fact I'm sure she didn't.
She may have been shocked by his comments but she failed to react in the way he probably hoped for.
Her response was measured and calmly executed.
By:
ebulGery
When: 15 Aug 16 21:49
That may be, but using foul and abusive is, as far I am aware is 'contempt of court'.

This must also apply to the Judge!, that is all I am saying.

By:

When: 15 Aug 16 22:12
I don't think she responded in temper either, akabula.  As you say she was calm and handled the matter well, I think.  She maybe should not have replied like that, but again we are not perfect and in replying to him in the same way is not the same as she telling him him first without provocation.

I thought that too, terry, but I doubt that there have been many that would anger a judge and the law with that word.

I think people are overreacting to what was a Judge showing an idiot that he was wasting his time with his nonsense.
