But the authorities are not on the ball if they just stop people who are seen to be reading foreign books. And it is counter-productive in two ways: first, it makes the ones who get stopped more antagonistic to the authorities; more importantly, it gets in the way of stopping genuine threats.
And if you read the story, the police let her fly out and only stopped her on her return flight two weeks later. If she did pose a threat, surely it was to the first flight.

I don't object to people being stopped on *correct grounds* but that does not include being seen reading a book before getting on a plane a whole two weeks earlier -- a plane which has so far not fallen from the sky in mysterious circumstances.
