I managed to find the Women's Modern Pentathlon riding round, from yesterday.  It was very good. Some very decent riders. Some very decent horses, too. No medals for GB.

I have just watched the men's riding round. Joe Choong is in with a good chance of a medal for GB. The Run and Shoot will be on at 10.00pm.

No medal for Joe Sad He went from second place to 9th after his shooting let him down. James Cooke finished 13th.

The girls finished 6th and 9th, so no medals for GB but I thought we did very well. It's a tough sport. The riding especially.

don't think many will be staying up late for the egg n spoon race. got more important things to do, like sleep, or watching paint dry.

should imagine judges are plotting their DQ strategy for men's 4 x 400m to guarantee bronze for Brazilian quartet.

Like the old European title fights in Italy where you had to knock 'em out to get a draw.

KJT would have won the high jump with her effort in the heptathlon Shocked

perhaps she should concentrate on that rather than flogging a dead horse with the javelin and shot putt

Nicola Adams one of the most likeable people in sport, and a total credit to British Sport, great attitude, fantastic !Not sure if it was my wrong impression (?) but John Inverdale seemed utterly un-interested when interviewing her. And the other day when he was interviewing Anthony Joshua about Adams he was constantly looking around and ignoring him. He has been a terrible presenter on these games.

I had the same thought re Inverdale. Surprised he was at the boxing. Looked like he just wasn't really interested. He suits Rowing and the Rugby Sevens. I'd have had him at the cycling and the Canoe Sprints although you feel Balding pushed for main gig that was the cycling. Is he BBC rather than an independent such as Balding?

I like Inverdale, intelligent and grown up. he is sure to be baffled when he looks around.

Inverdale has been relegated to the minor sports after Andy Murray rightly called him out during that earlier interview. Laugh

very rude of Murry, did he think Inverdale was not aware of this?

the British are becoming a very impolite lot.

Not rude at all. Andy was right to correct him.

you do not correct someone in front of millions of people.

in Japan such a thing would be shameful. This can cause problems in Japan because if you mention something to them which they know to be untrue they will not correct you.

it can even depend how you ask the question. Do not say i think the train leaves at 2, i will catch that one for example.
in Japan they will agree even if it leaves at 3 they don`t like say so

you must ask what time does the train leave.

its strange but nice.

now if Murry had perhaps raised an eyebrow, but only one and briefly, and thinking quickly had said to himself Inverdale must mean the men`s tennis here.
and then answered and said how glad and pleased he was etc.then i would have though more of Murry certainly.

It was an honest comment from Murray, and it has endeared him to thousands of women (Twitter was awash with praise).

really?, nothing should surprise us now i suppose.

you can learn manners but it is hard if you don`h have a talent for it.

Inverdale always gives the impression (to me anyway) of being condescending to his interviewees and the retort of murray was entirely valid
By:
lfc1971
When: 21 Aug 16 17:33
well it may have been valid, in theory, if Murry honestly believed that Inverdale was trying to demean womens tennis in front of millions of people.

now i don`t happen to believe that, it seems an idiotic thing to believe..imo

he wasn't even referring to men's tennis. obvious he meant no one of either sex had retained an olympic singles title

not that surprising really considering tennis has only been in the olympics around 10 times and you'd only get 2 or 3 realistic chances in a career
By:
lfc1971
When: 21 Aug 16 17:38
well he was speaking to a man who had just won the men`n olympic gold in tennis

now the men`s olympic gold in tennis is a different gold to women`s olympic gold.
By:
lfc1971
When: 21 Aug 16 17:39
they play in a different tournament, i assume Inverdale was referring to the men`s olympic gold in tennis
