If God can do anything, could he make a rock so heavy that he was unable to lift it,and if he can do that it would mean he would be unable to lift it, which proves that god can not do everything.

You're no supposed to ask questions like that. Now go and read your bible and have faith.

God could just modify himself so he could lift it. Built a supernatural weight bench, do a few reps with a planet, take some creationistatine supplements.

If God can do anything, would He sin???

If you read the 'Bible' mr Foinavon, you would find a passage -
John 4 - Jesus Talks With a Samaritan Woman.
He reveals to this woman who is not a jew (that might be important)
that God is Spirit. So Lifting Rocks which is physical matter would
be uninteresting, he's interested in our spiritual attributes.
Pantheism is the belief that God is limitless in scope?
Yet the Bible clearly makes it clear that God hasn't this quality?
He's obviously outside our dimensional understanding. Four dimensional
beings cannot understand spiritual beings.

jesus did sin when he was on earth.
one day he walked into a temple and found the people using the church or temple to sell their goods ,a sort of flea market.
so jesus lost his cool and launched an unprovoked attack on the people. He wrecked the church and scattered tables and chairs.
I think this is a sin but people never talk about it.
remember you heard it first from brass.

As it so often is the answer's in the question. "If God can do anything" then he can do anything.

What would be the reason for this rock? Would you lie in the middle of the road?
cut yourself with rusty blades? step in front of a bus? God has choices too.
Making rocks to prove a point isn't one of them???

He basically built that rock - the fall of creation.
He's spent 14 billion years trying to put it right?
His greatest creation Satan is now an enemy and
dumb questions keep coming from people who won't try
to understand his words in a rather large book.

I'm assuming that "If God can do anything" means God can do everything. If not then the rest of the OP doesn't make much sense.

So if it was a statement of truth that God can do anything: build a rock he can't pick up and also pick it up. No paradox at all. I'm confident that someone who knows propositional calculus could prove it.

I am inclined to agree with you there Charlie

I do not know propositional calculus well enough to disprove it on here

the branch of symbolic logic that deals with propositions and the relations between them, without examination of their content.

ok let me run this by you all.
We all have five senses,=sight,hearing,taste,smell,touch.
Suppose by mistake a person was born with only 2 senses=smell and taste.
That person would view the world/universe/god with the only two senses that he had taste and smell.that person would never understand about seeing, hearing,or touching and would live a remote life of smelling and tasting.
Now as I say we all have five senses but there is a lot we do not understand about the world/universe/god.
so when we say it dosent make sense about god it really means our 5 senses is not enough to understand.
its like trying to get the guy with 2 senses see, hear, and touch ,it would be impossible for him to understand what the other 3 senses are all about.
BY THE WAY YOU ALL HAVE A SIXTH SENSE THAT YOU NEVER USE YOU HAVE TO FIND OUT WHAT YOU ARE GIFTED AT BEFORE YOU USE IT.Grin

This statement claims GOD can do anything, so he creates something, he cannot do????????????????,namely lift this rock.

There is no way both these propositions can be true at the same time......as they directly contradict one another.

This looks like rubbish to me.

I think it might be Faith, some people except God and have no problem believing in him, others search for him so they must have some belief because you don't look for something that you don't believe exists. And others have no faith at all and get annoyed because they can not understand the people with faith.Laugh

Surely the rubbish is in the initial premise that there exists a god who can do anything. That it the source of the paradox.

I will leave you with the words of the great ALBERT Einstein in his letter to Phyllis jan 24th1936.
EVERYONE WHO IS SERIOUSLY INVOLVED IN THE PERSUIT OF SCIENCE BECOMES CONVINCED THAT SOME SPIRIT IS MANIFEST IN THE LAWS OF THE UNIVERSE.ONE THAT IS VASTLY SUOERIOR TO THAT OF MAN.

Helen Keler for Senses argument - devout christian.

Like there is no scientific proof for God.

1. the bible - a large book that can be read by people who say they can read.
2. odds(betfair) Universal laws/rules such as electromagnetic theory - invented
by a scotsman called James Clerk Maxwell (http://silas.psfc.mit.edu/Maxwell/maxwell.html)
devout christian, a super christian...
Thousands of prominent scientists know there is a god. It's not faith. They see the dirty
fingerprints on creation.
3. The story of Christ itself - it's a mental story that is more true than anything anyone
could think up - weaved into a jewish narrative which is 4000 years old. To know Christ is to read the old testement not the new. Christ is revealed in the old is the Victorian saying.
4. to 10,000 other reasons to come later...

Einsteins letter to Phyllis (24 TH JANUARY 1936)just google it.
its an answer to a young school girl who wrote to Albert asking if he prayed.Einstein had to be careful what he said in the reply because he knew the media were watching every word he wrote, but he done it well as you will see if you google it.
